Some cars already have Apple CarPlay built in and only need software activation. Others were never built with it at all. We handle both: factory activation by coding where your vehicle supports it, or a CarPlay Box installed behind the dashboard where activation isn’t available.

The software
What CarPlay activation is
No box, no wiring, no dashboard coming apart. Where the car already has the hardware, Apple CarPlay is switched on in the vehicle’s own software through the diagnostic port — usually in well under two hours.
The option is already there
On many cars the factory head unit was built with Apple CarPlay support, but the option was never ordered or was left switched off at the factory. Nothing is missing from the car — it just is not enabled.
We read the build data first
Using your registration number we check what the vehicle was actually built with, so we know whether the head unit can be switched on before anything is quoted or booked.
Done through the diagnostic port
A laptop and a manufacturer-level diagnostic interface plug into the car’s OBD port. No trim is removed, no panels come off and nothing is added to the vehicle.
The coding value is changed
We connect to the multimedia module and enable Apple CarPlay in its coding — the same way the factory would have done it had the option been ordered.
Paired and tested before you go
Your iPhone is paired, CarPlay is opened on the factory screen, and the steering wheel controls and factory menus are checked while you are still with us.
Reversible, and nothing else changes
Only the CarPlay option is touched. The coding can be set back at any time, and the rest of the vehicle configuration is left exactly as it was.

The hardware
What a CarPlay Box actually is
About the size of a paperback. It sits between your factory screen and the video feeding it, adds its own Apple CarPlay interface, and hands control straight back when you switch away. Coding is a software change through the diagnostic port; a box is physical work — and that is where the extra time comes from.
Interface module
The box itself, with LVDS in and out, CAN power, USB and antenna inputs.
Fitting it: It goes into a cavity behind the dash where it has airflow and cannot shift, secured so it will not rattle over Irish road surfaces.
LVDS video feed
Carries the picture to your original screen at its native resolution.
Fitting it: Trim comes off to reach the back of the factory screen. The cable is disconnected and the box wired inline, so the original picture still gets through.
Plug-and-play harness
A vehicle-specific loom that powers the module from the existing CAN connector.
Fitting it: Nothing in the factory loom is cut or spliced, which is why the whole installation can be reversed later.
Wireless antenna
Handles the wireless link to your iPhone where the system supports it.
Fitting it: Routed behind the dashboard along the existing looms and positioned for signal, not just tucked out of the way.
USB leads
For wired CarPlay, or for a reversing camera or dash cam feed where compatible.
Fitting it: Every lead is taped and secured so nothing is visible, nothing hangs loose and nothing can rub through.
Toggle switch input
Switching between the factory menu and CarPlay using your existing controls.
Fitting it: Panels go back exactly as they came apart, then CarPlay, factory menus, steering wheel buttons, camera and sensors are all tested.

Yes. If the CarPlay hardware is already fitted but switched off, we enable it by coding. If the car has no CarPlay provision at all, we fit a CarPlay Box behind the screen. Send your registration and a dashboard photo and we'll confirm the cleanest option for your model.
Activation or a CarPlay Box — which one do I need?
It depends how your car left the factory. Where the module is already present, activation by coding is quickest and cleanest — no hardware, no dashboard work. Where there's no provision, a CarPlay Box adds it behind the original screen. We check your build data first, so you only pay for what your car actually needs.
Will it look factory-fitted?
That's the whole point. Activation keeps your factory menus completely unchanged, and box installs use model-specific harnesses and hidden wiring so the finish looks OEM — no loose cables, no aftermarket bulge on the dash.
Wired or wireless CarPlay?
Most systems we install support both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay. We set up wireless by default and leave a USB for wired fallback and fast charging.
Is activation reversible?
Yes. Coding only changes the CarPlay parameter and can be set back at any time with no trace — useful for lease returns or resale. A CarPlay Box is fitted without cutting the factory loom, so it can be removed too.
How long does it take?
Most activations are done in well under an hour — often while you wait. A CarPlay Box or new screen install is typically completed the same day, usually 2–4 hours depending on the vehicle.
