Toyota is the make we fit most
Toyota sold a whole decade of cars — 2011 to 2019 — with the Touch and Touch 2 system: a 6 or 7-inch screen with a row of physical buttons either side, and no CarPlay or Android Auto at any trim. There is no software update and no box that fits the Touch 2 screen, so the answer is a car-specific Android screen. It is the job we do more than any other, on Corolla, Auris, Yaris, Prius, Avensis, RAV4, C-HR and Hilux, and it is why there are so many Toyota case studies below.
From the 2020 model year Toyota fitted wired CarPlay across the range. Those cars only need a wireless adapter.

What changes on the dash
The Touch 2 unit comes out with its bezel and the Android screen goes into the same opening with a Toyota-shaped fascia — no gap, no cut trim. The steering-wheel buttons work through a CAN adapter, the factory reverse camera shows on the new screen with guidelines, and on JBL cars the amplifier is kept through the right harness. The climate controls on these Toyotas are physical and stay where they are.
