On the 2013–2019 E170 the Touch 2 unit never had CarPlay in Europe. A CarPlay box behind the factory screen adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto and keeps the original unit, or an Android screen replaces it and adds DAB and built-in maps. Japanese-import Axio and Fielder cars with a Japanese unit take the Android screen. E120 and E150 cars with the CD radio go the Android screen route too.

On the E210 it is a software matter, not hardware. The first 2019 cars left the factory without CarPlay and Android Auto on the Touch 2 with Go unit, and Toyota released an update that adds both; from 2020 it was standard. We check the unit, apply the update where the car qualifies, and can add a wireless adapter so the phone connects on its own. Later Smart Connect cars have wireless CarPlay built in.

E120, built 2002–2007 (Factory CD radio without a screen; a small navigation unit on a few cars): Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto by replacing the CD radio with an Android screen; Corolla fascia and plug-in harness, steering-wheel buttons kept. E150, built 2007–2013 (Factory CD radio without a screen on nearly all Irish cars): Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto replacing the CD radio in the saloon dash; the same route on Japanese-import Axio cars of these years. E170, built 2013–2019 (Toyota Touch 2 or Touch 2 with Go 6.1-inch on Irish cars, no CarPlay; Japanese-import Axio and Fielder cars carry a Japanese unit): CarPlay box on the factory Touch 2 screen keeping the original unit, or an Android screen for wireless CarPlay and Android Auto; on a Japanese-import Axio or Fielder with a Japanese unit the route is the Android screen. E210, built 2019 on (Toyota Touch 2 with Go 8-inch with CarPlay and Android Auto on most cars from 2019, early cars via a software update; Toyota Smart Connect 10.5-inch with wireless CarPlay from the 2023 update): Factory CarPlay on most cars; 2019 launch cars get the Touch 2 software update, wired 8-inch units get a wireless adapter, and we sort region and maps on imports.

E120: two to three hours; E150: two to three hours; E170: two to four hours; E210: about an hour. You can wait at the workshop or drop the Corolla in the morning and collect it the same day.
