Yes. The 2013–2018 XA40 has Touch 2 or Touch 2 with Go, which never had CarPlay in Europe. A CarPlay box behind the factory screen adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto and keeps everything original, or an Android screen replaces the unit and adds DAB and built-in maps. On the 2006–2012 XA30 with the CD radio the Android screen is the only route, and it takes the reversing camera too.

Most do. The XA50 launched in 2019 without it, Toyota added CarPlay and Android Auto to the Touch 2 with Go unit by software update, and from 2020 it was standard; 2023 Smart Connect cars have it wirelessly. We apply the update where the car qualifies, fit a wireless adapter to the wired units, and on Japanese-import cars with a Japanese unit we fit an Android screen instead.

It depends on the generation. XA30 (2006–2012): from €650; XA40 (2013–2018): from €450; XA50 (2019 on): from €150. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

XA30, built 2006–2012 (Factory CD radio without a screen; an optional navigation unit on a few cars, the 2010 facelift kept the same layout): Android screen in the factory radio slot with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto; fascia and harness for the RAV4 dash, steering-wheel buttons kept. XA40, built 2013–2018 (Toyota Touch 2 or Touch 2 with Go 6.1-inch, 7-inch from the 2016 facelift; no CarPlay): CarPlay box on the factory Touch 2 screen keeping the original unit, or an Android screen for wireless CarPlay and Android Auto; the Hybrid takes the same kit. XA50, built 2019 on (Toyota Touch 2 with Go 8-inch; CarPlay and Android Auto from 2020, 2019 cars via the software update; Toyota Smart Connect 10.5-inch with wireless CarPlay from 2023): Factory CarPlay on most cars, with a wireless adapter for the wired 8-inch units; on a car without it, or a Japanese import with a Japanese unit, we fit an Android screen, as on the 2020–2024 RAV4 we did.

XA30: two to three hours; XA40: two to four hours; XA50: two to three hours. You can wait at the workshop or drop the RAV4 in the morning and collect it the same day.

XA30: the display is replaced, but the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and the climate controls are kept. XA40: the Toyota Touch 2 or Touch 2 with Go 6.1-inch, 7-inch from the 2016 facelift; no CarPlay and its controls stay; the box sits behind the trim and is switched from the factory buttons. XA50: the display is replaced, but the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and the climate controls are kept.
