How much does car soundproofing cost in Dublin?

It depends on how much of the car you treat. Our Urban & Acoustic Pack (all four doors plus the roof) starts from €1,260, the Highway & Road Noise Pack (doors, floor and all four wheel arches) from €2,520, and Full Vehicle Isolation from €3,060.

Prices start from those figures because the work involved varies by vehicle — door design, trim layout and how much of the interior has to come out all affect the time on the car. Send us the make, model and year and we'll come back with a firm price rather than a guess.

How much quieter will my car actually be?

With full treatment most drivers report up to around 70% less perceived cabin noise and roughly 15 dB lower sound levels at motorway speed. Because decibels are a logarithmic scale, that is a much bigger difference than the number suggests — conversation and music sit noticeably above the road noise instead of competing with it.

The honest caveat: the result depends on the car you start with. A older van or a car on wide, hard tyres has more to gain than a well-insulated saloon. We'll tell you which zones will actually move the needle on your vehicle before you book.

How long does the installation take?

A full vehicle treatment normally takes about 2 days. A single zone — four doors, for example — is usually a one-day job.

Most of that time goes on removing and refitting trim properly rather than on the material itself. Panels, door cards and carpets have to come out, the surfaces need to be cleaned before anything is bonded down, and everything has to go back with the right clips and torque. Rushing that is exactly how rattles and squeaks appear later.

Which areas make the biggest difference?

If your main complaint is road and tyre noise, the wheel arches and floor do the heavy lifting — that is where most motorway roar enters the cabin. Doors are the best all-round starting point: they cut outside noise, kill panel resonance and improve your speakers at the same time. The roof mainly helps with rain drumming and overhead echo.

  • Doors — best first step, and the biggest gain for audio.
  • Wheel arches — the single biggest source of tyre and gravel noise.
  • Floor — road noise and vibration coming up through the cabin.
  • Roof — rain impact and that hollow, echoey feeling inside.
Will soundproofing improve my car audio?

Yes, and it is often the most noticeable side effect. A treated door behaves like a proper sealed speaker enclosure instead of a thin, resonating panel, so bass tightens up and midrange gets clearer. Lowering the background noise floor also means you no longer have to turn the volume up to hear detail at speed.

For a lot of customers, door soundproofing delivers more real-world audio improvement than swapping speakers on an untreated door would.

Does it add weight to the car?

Yes — any soundproofing does, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. A doors-only job adds a modest amount; full 360° isolation adds noticeably more because it covers the floor, arches and roof as well.

For everyday cars it is not something you notice. If weight genuinely matters to you — an EV where you care about range, or a light performance car — say so, and we'll put together a targeted set of zones that gets most of the benefit for a fraction of the added mass.

Is it safe for my car's interior and electrics?

Trim, door cards and carpets are removed and refitted using the correct tools, with damaged or one-use clips replaced rather than forced back in. Wiring looms, airbag connectors and drainage channels are kept clear — door drains in particular must never be blocked, or you get damp instead of quiet.

Materials are bonded to clean, prepared surfaces so nothing shifts or peels later, and the finish is hidden behind the original trim. When the car goes back together it should look exactly as it did before — just quieter.

Can I do it in stages instead of all at once?

Absolutely, and plenty of customers do. Start with the doors, live with the car for a while, then add the floor and wheel arches later if you want to go further. Each zone is a self-contained job, so nothing is wasted by splitting it up.

The only thing worth knowing is that doing everything in one visit is more efficient overall — some trim comes out for more than one zone, so a staged approach means paying for that work more than once.

Is soundproofing worth it on an electric car?

Often more so than on a petrol or diesel car. Without engine noise to mask it, tyre and road noise become the dominant sound in an EV cabin — which is why it can feel surprisingly loud at motorway speed despite the silent drivetrain.

Treating the floor and wheel arches targets exactly that. We'll balance the coverage against added weight so you get the quiet without a meaningful hit to range.

What materials do you use?

We work with DrArtex multi-layer insulation — a combination of vibration damping and acoustic absorption rather than a single product. Damping layers stop the metal panel itself from resonating, and absorption layers deal with the airborne noise that gets past it. Both are needed; using only one is why cheap DIY jobs disappoint.

The materials also add a thermal benefit, so a treated cabin holds its temperature better in summer and winter.
