Volkswagen Touran upgrades, generation by generation.

The 2010 to 2015 1T3 facelift, nearly always for the Touran Android screen, because the RCD 310 and 510 radios cannot show a phone. 5T owners from 2015 on come for App-Connect coding and a wireless adapter. Mk1 cars still come in for the same screen swap with the earlier fascia.

Yes. The Touran units connect through a CAN adapter, so the Park Pilot graphic, the Climatronic information and the steering-wheel buttons all carry over to the Android screen. The job takes two to three hours at our Dublin 11 workshop and you can wait for it.

1T / 1T2 — 2003–2010: RCD 300 or RCD 500 CD radio; RNS 300 navigation, RNS 510 on late cars. 1T3 — 2010–2015: RCD 310 or RCD 510 radio; RNS 315 or RNS 510 navigation. 5T — 2015 on: MIB2 Composition Media or Discover Media with App-Connect on most cars; MIB3 with wireless App-Connect on later cars. Car radio: Touran Android screen for 2003–2015 cars with DAB and camera input; the factory unit is kept on the 5T. CarPlay: Touran Android screen on 2003–2015 cars, App-Connect coding and wireless adapters on the 5T from 2015. Reversing camera: Camera on the factory screen where it supports it, a mirror monitor or Android screen where it does not. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Four rear sensors and a beeper that speeds up as you close in; nothing on the screen. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most Touran owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
