Cheap Reversing Camera Fitting in Dublin: Real Prices Compared, and What the Cheapest Job Leaves Out
The cheapest way to get a reversing camera in Dublin is to buy a kit and pay a fitter €60 to €130 to install it. Supplied and fitted, published prices start around €140 to €200, and a camera on the factory screen costs far more at some specialists. Here is every published price we found on 9 October 2026, what each one includes, and when cheap is fine.
On 9 October 2026 the cheapest published routes in Dublin were labour-only fitting of a camera you already own (Airtasker budgets of €60 to €120, Radio Masters €130 for a car) and supplied-and-fitted mobile fitters from about €160 to €200, sometimes plus a €40 call-out. Halfords lists fitting from €150 with the camera extra. A camera shown on the factory screen costs €650 to €1,295 at some Dublin specialists. At Radio King a reversing camera starts from €100 on a mirror monitor or a screen you already have, and from €150 to €250 on the factory screen depending on the car, with a one-year warranty.
“Where can I get a reversing camera fitted cheaply in Dublin?” has a straight answer, and we give it below with every price we could find published by Dublin fitters, chains and marketplaces, including our own. The short version: the cheapest jobs are labour-only fits of a camera you already own, from about €60 to €130; supplied-and-fitted cameras start at around €140 to €200; and a camera on the factory screen ranges from €150 at our workshop to more than €1,000 for a genuine manufacturer retrofit elsewhere.

The cheapest ways to get a reversing camera in Dublin
1. Buy a kit, pay someone to fit it. This is the lowest number you will see. A camera with a small dash monitor costs about €25 on Amazon or €37 on AliExpress (prices seen on 9 October 2026), and from outside the EU, import VAT and fees are added at the door. On Airtasker, people in Dublin post camera-fitting jobs with budgets of €60 to €120 when they already have the camera (Airtasker); these are what people offer to pay, not quotes. Radio Masters publishes €130 to fit a customer-supplied camera to a car and €190 to a van. You pay for the camera separately and the warranty on it is between you and the seller.
2. A mobile fitter from a classified ad. DoneDeal and Adverts.ie carry ads from Dublin mobile fitters offering a camera supplied and fitted from €200, vans from €220, and one notes that “a €40 call out fee may be applied”. Vik Auto Gadgets, also mobile, starts from €180 and warranties the equipment only.
3. A fitting chain. Halfords Ireland lists reversing camera fitting from €150 after a free 30-minute assessment, with the camera extra. Its Motormax mirror monitor kit is €180, so the basket is about €330.
4. A workshop, supplied and fitted. Radio Masters sells a Park Vision camera supplied and fitted for €140 on a car, €160 with night vision. At Radio King a camera starts from €100 on a mirror monitor or an Android screen you already have, and from €150 to €250 on the factory screen through a video interface, depending on the car.
5. A genuine camera on the factory screen. This is the premium end. ICE Systems lists a Ford camera from €695 and genuine VW and BMW cameras from €795 and €849.99, including VAT and installation. Bimmerwise lists BMW OEM camera installation at €650 to €999. These are different jobs from an aftermarket camera, and worth it if you want the manufacturer’s own picture and trajectory lines.
What the cheapest job usually leaves out
A reversing camera is a cheap part. What you are paying for is the 5 metres of cable between the boot and the dash, and that is where cheap jobs go wrong.
- The reverse-light feed. The camera switches on from the reversing light. Many modern cars run their lights through a body control module that pulses the voltage, and a camera spliced straight onto that wire flickers or never wakes up. It needs a relay or a filtered feed. Cheap splice connectors on that wire can corrode within a couple of winters.
- The tailgate. On a hatchback or SUV the cable has to pass through the rubber boot between body and tailgate. Done properly it follows the factory loom. Done quickly it is pinched in the hinge and breaks after a few hundred openings, usually when the weather turns.
- Holes and water. A camera mounted by drilling the bumper or the number-plate plinth needs the hole sealed. An unsealed hole lets water into the boot lid, where it reaches the lock and the light wiring.
- The screen. A mirror monitor is the cheapest screen and it works, but it fights the low Irish sun for half the year. Showing the camera on the factory screen needs an interface made for that head unit, which is why that route costs more.
- Guidelines and orientation. The picture has to be mirrored correctly and the guidelines set to the width of the car. Uncalibrated lines make you misjudge the gap you are trying to see.
- Who stands behind it. Labour-only fitting means the fitter warranties the work and nobody warranties the camera. Equipment-only warranties mean the opposite. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, when the business that sells you the camera also fits it, a bad installation counts as a fault with the goods, so one business answers for both. Buy from a seller outside the EU and, as the CCPC puts it, you have fewer protections and no small claims process.
Buy cheap, buy twice: the real cost
There is an old saying: we are not rich enough to buy cheap things. It sounds like a joke until you add up a reversing camera that is done twice.
| Example | Route A: cheapest | Route B: done once |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Online kit, €25 to €37 plus import charges | Supplied with the job |
| Fitting | Labour-only, €60 to €130 | Included |
| First winter | Cable breaks in the tailgate or the picture flickers | Covered by warranty |
| Second job | New camera and a proper fit, €140 to €250 | Not needed |
| Total | €225 to €417 | €140 to €250 |
This is an example, not a promise: plenty of cheap installs work fine for years. But when the cheap one fails, you pay the professional anyway, and the money spent the first time is gone.
When the cheap option is perfectly fine
- A van or a pickup where you want a simple number-plate camera on a mirror monitor.
- An older car you plan to sell within a year.
- You already have a good camera and only need it fitted.
- You are handy, the car has a straightforward reverse-light circuit, and you have a free Saturday.
In all of these cases, ask the fitter one question before you book: how does the cable get from the boot to the front? The answer tells you whether you are getting a job that lasts.
