How Much Does Car Soundproofing Cost in Ireland? Published Prices, and the Cheap Way That Works

Car soundproofing in Ireland costs from €80 to €200 per door at Dublin workshops that publish prices, with floors from €600 and full-car treatment from €3,060. DIY material kits sold online are cheaper if you do the work. Here is every published price we found on 9 October 2026, why per-door prices differ, and where to start on a budget.

On 9 October 2026 Radio Masters in Dublin published door soundproofing at €80, €100 or €140 per door depending on the level, €240 per wheel arch and €800 for the floor. At Radio King doors start from €200 per door, the roof and the floor from €600 each, wheel arches from €700 per pair, and packs from €1,260 for four doors and the roof. We are not the cheapest per door; the difference is in the layers and the trim work. DIY kits sold online cost less again. On a budget, treat the doors first for better speakers, and the arches and floor for road noise.

Door inner skin covered with red damping material during a soundproofing job at Radio King in Dublin

“How much does car soundproofing cost in Ireland, and is there a cheap way to do it?” Published Dublin prices on 9 October 2026 ran from €80 to €140 per door at Radio Masters, with €240 per wheel arch and €800 for the floor. At Radio King doors start from €200 per door, the roof and floor from €600 each, and packs from €1,260. We are not the cheapest per door, and we explain why below. The cheapest route of all is a DIY material kit bought online, if you do the work yourself.

Prices checked on 9 October 2026. Every figure below comes from the business’s own website on that date, with a link, and we compare like with like: area treated, layers and fitting. Prices change, so check before you book. How we compare is explained in our guide to cheap car electronics fitting.

The cheapest ways to soundproof a car in Ireland

1. A DIY material kit. Damping mats, foam and absorber kits are sold online in many sizes. We have not checked a price we can stand behind, so we do not quote one. The material is the cheap part; the work is taking the door cards and carpets out, cleaning the panels, bonding the layers and putting everything back without broken clips.

2. A workshop that prices per door. Radio Masters publishes door soundproofing at three levels: Level 1 €80, Balanced €100 and Level 2 €140 per door. Wheel arches are €240 per arch and the floor €800, with a one-year installation warranty. Four doors come to €320 to €560 depending on the level.

3. A fitting chain. We found no soundproofing service listed by Halfords Ireland, and no published price from other chains.

4. A specialist with packs. At Radio King doors start from €200 per door, the roof from €600, the floor from €600 and wheel arches from €700 per pair. Packs cover the common goals: Urban & Acoustic (four doors and the roof) from €1,260, Highway & Road Noise (doors, floor and all four arches) from €2,520, and Full Vehicle Isolation from €3,060. Per door, that is more than the lowest published price. The next section is what the difference buys.

What the cheap price usually leaves out

“Per door” is not one job. Two doors at different prices can have very different work behind the card.

  • Layers. Butyl damping is the first layer: it stops the metal ringing. On its own it does little for airborne noise. A fuller treatment adds closed-cell foam to decouple and seal, and an absorber for the noise that gets past. Damping only is the quickest version; it is also why some soundproofing jobs disappoint.
  • Outer skin and inner skin. A door has two metal skins. The outer one is reached through the openings in the inner one, behind the speaker. Treating the outer skin stops it drumming; sealing the openings in the inner skin turns the door into a proper box for the speaker. A cheaper door may get the first and not the second.
  • The door card. The plastic card itself buzzes against the frame. Felt or foam on the card and its contact points is what stops the rattles you actually hear.
  • Coverage and preparation. Material bonds to clean metal. Stuck onto dust or wax, it can peel when the weather warms up. How much of the panel is covered changes both the result and the time.
  • Clips, drains and wiring. Door cards and trim are held by clips, many of them single-use. Forced back, they rattle. Door drains must stay clear or you get damp instead of quiet, and wiring looms and airbag connectors must not be buried under material.

Ask any installer, us included, which layers go on, which skins are treated and whether broken clips are replaced. Then compare the per-door prices.

Buy cheap, buy twice: the real cost

Soundproofing is the hardest job in car audio to redo. Damping material is bonded to the metal. Getting it off means heat, scraping and solvent, panel by panel, and that takes longer than putting it on. So a cheap job that has to be redone does not cost twice; it costs more than twice. With this one more than any other, pay for it once and have it done properly, rather than pay twice and end up at a specialist anyway.

Example: four doorsRoute A: cheapestRoute B: done once
MaterialDIY kit bought online, price variesMulti-layer material supplied
LabourYour own weekendFrom €200 per door
What goes wrongDamping only, broken clips, rattles, drains blockedCovered by warranty
Second jobOld layer stripped, doors done again from €800, plus the stripping timeNot needed
TotalThe kit and a weekend, plus from €800, plus strippingfrom €800

This is an example, not a promise. Plenty of DIY jobs turn out well, and a professional per-door job at a lower price can be exactly what a car needs. The cost comes when a job has to be taken off before it can be done again.

When the cheap option is perfectly fine

  • One panel rattles, and a few pieces of damping behind the card will cure it.
  • You want the front doors a little more solid for a speaker upgrade on an older car.
  • You are patient, own trim tools and will clean every panel before anything goes on.
  • A lower per-door price, as long as it covers the layers you want for your car.

Where to start on a budget

  • For better sound: the front doors first. Damping and sealing the door helps any speaker, old or new. See cheap car speakers fitting in Dublin.
  • For road noise and tyre hum: the wheel arches and the floor, where the noise comes in. That is what the Highway & Road Noise pack covers.
  • For rain and wind drumming: the roof.
  • For both: a pack. Four doors at €200 each plus a €600 roof would be €1,400 priced separately; the Urban & Acoustic pack starts from €1,260.

What you get at Radio King

We have been fitting car electronics at our Dublin workshop since 2016, on more than 32,000 cars so far. Doors from €200 per door, the roof and floor from €600 each, arches from €700 per pair, and packs from €1,260, with the exact price from your registration. We use DrArtex multi-layer material, damping and absorption together rather than a single product. Trim, door cards and carpets come out with the right tools, damaged or single-use clips are replaced, surfaces are cleaned before anything is bonded, and door drains, wiring looms and airbag connectors are kept clear. Everything goes back behind the original trim, and the work carries a one-year warranty.

Send your make, model and registration on WhatsApp and we tell you which zones make sense for your car and the exact price. The car soundproofing page shows the zones and packs.

Ask on WhatsApp
How much does it cost to soundproof a car in Ireland?

It depends on how much of the car you treat. On 9 October 2026 published Dublin prices ran from €80 to €200 per door, €240 per wheel arch, and €600 to €800 for the floor. At Radio King packs start from €1,260 for four doors and the roof, €2,520 for doors, floor and arches, and €3,060 for the whole car, with the exact price from your registration.

What is the cheapest way to soundproof a car?

Buying a DIY material kit online and doing the work yourself is cheapest, because labour is most of the cost. It works if you clean the panels properly, use the right layers and refit the trim without breaking clips. The cheapest professional option we found was €80 per door. Doing a single zone well beats doing the whole car badly.

Why do car soundproofing prices per door vary so much?

Because "per door" can mean very different jobs. A cheaper door may get one damping layer on the outer skin; a fuller treatment adds closed-cell foam and an absorber, seals the inner skin and treats the door card against rattles. Coverage, surface preparation and replacing broken clips also change the time. Ask which layers and which surfaces each price includes.

Is DIY car soundproofing worth it?

For a rattling panel or an older car, yes, if you are patient and handy with trim tools. The risk is the redo: damping material is bonded to the metal, so if it is the wrong product or badly applied, the next job starts with stripping it off, and that takes longer than putting it on. Get the layers right the first time.

Which part of the car should I soundproof first?

If you want better sound from your speakers, start with the doors: damping and sealing the door turns it into a better speaker box. If road noise and tyre hum are the problem, the wheel arches and floor matter most, because that is where the noise comes in. The roof helps with drumming from rain and wind.

Does door soundproofing make car speakers sound better?

Yes. A car door is thin metal with holes in it. Damping stops the panel vibrating with the speaker, and sealing the inner skin keeps the sound from the back of the cone from cancelling the front, so bass gets tighter and rattles stop. It is often worth doing at the same time as a speaker upgrade, since the door cards come off once.
