Cheap Car Speaker Fitting in Dublin: Published Prices, and What the Cheapest Job Leaves Out
The cheapest way to new car speakers in Dublin is a pair bought online for about €14 to €21 and a workshop that fits speakers you supply, published at €80 per door. Halfords fits audio from €120 on its own products. Here is every published price we found on 9 October 2026, what each includes, and when cheap is fine.
On 9 October 2026 the cheapest route in Dublin was a speaker pair bought online (€14 on AliExpress, €20.92 for a JVC CS-J610X on Amazon) fitted by a workshop that takes customer-supplied parts: Radio Masters publishes €80 per door. Halfords lists audio fitting from €120, only on products bought from Halfords, and ICE Systems lists Pioneer TS-Q160 speakers at €90/€110 excluding installation. At Radio King a speaker upgrade starts from €200 on our car pages, with door speakers and tweeters on plug-in adapters, no cutting, and the factory amplifier kept on premium systems. The cheap route usually skips the adapters, so the speaker rattles or the loom gets cut.
“Where can I get car speakers fitted cheaply in Dublin?” The straight answer is to buy a pair online and pay someone to fit them. A pair costs about €14 to €21 online, and one Dublin workshop publishes €80 per door to fit speakers you supply. Halfords fits audio from €120, but only on products bought from Halfords. At Radio King a speaker upgrade starts from €200 on our car pages, with plug-in adapters and no cutting.

The cheapest ways to get car speakers fitted in Dublin
1. Buy a pair online and fit them yourself. This is the lowest number you will see. A pair costs €14 on AliExpress, and a JVC CS-J610X pair is €20.92 on Amazon (prices seen on 9 October 2026). Both are sold from outside the EU, so import VAT is added whatever the value, plus a €3 customs duty per item on parcels worth €150 or less unless the goods were made in the UK, and from 1 November 2026 a €2 handling fee per item. You do the door cards yourself.
2. Buy online, pay a workshop to fit them. Radio Masters publishes €80 per door to fit customer-supplied speakers, so a front pair is €160 in labour plus the speakers. The fitter warranties the fitting; the speakers are between you and the seller.
3. A fitting chain. Halfords Ireland lists audio fitting from €120, covering stereos and speakers, after a free 30-minute assessment, with a 12-month fit guarantee. The service is “only available on products purchased from Halfords”, and fitting “may take up to 2 hours”.
4. A specialist, speakers and fitting. ICE Systems lists Pioneer TS-Q160 speakers at €90/€110, with the note “Price excludes installation”. At Radio King a speaker upgrade starts from €200 on our car pages: door speakers and tweeters on plug-in adapters, no cutting, and on premium systems the factory amplifier stays. You can hear a front pair in the shop before you choose.
What the cheapest job usually leaves out
A speaker is a cone, a magnet and two wires. What makes it sound right in a car door is everything around it, and that is where the cheap route saves its money.
- Size and depth. The speaker has to match the opening in the door and clear the window glass when it is wound down. A magnet that is too deep stops the window or gets hit by it. Many cars use their own sizes and mounting patterns, so a universal pair may not sit where the old one did.
- Adapter leads, not cut looms. The factory speaker has a plug. The proper way is an adapter lead that clicks into it. The quick way is to cut the plug off and twist or crimp the wires. Cut joins corrode in a wet door, and the car can never go back to standard.
- Adapter rings. An aftermarket speaker rarely bolts straight onto the factory mount. It needs a ring or spacer, sealed to the door. Without one it sits loose, air leaks round the cone and the bass disappears, and the speaker rattles against the door card.
- Polarity. Wire one side backwards and the two cones move in opposite directions, so the bass cancels between them. It still plays, which is why it gets missed.
- Tweeters. Component sets come with a separate tweeter and a small crossover. Leave out the crossover and the tweeter gets bass it cannot handle.
- Premium factory systems. Cars with Harman Kardon, Bose or Dynaudio sound drive the speakers from a factory amplifier tuned for those speakers. A generic pair dropped in can sound thinner or quieter than what came out. These cars need a different approach: keep the amplifier and choose speakers that suit it.
- Door card clips. Door cards are held on by plastic clips, many of them single-use, plus hidden screws on some cars. Pull without the right tool and a clip snaps, and the card buzzes on every bass note from then on.
- Who stands behind it. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, when the business that sells you the speakers also fits them, a bad installation counts as a fault with the goods, so one business answers for both. Buy from a seller outside the EU and, as the CCPC puts it, you have fewer protections and no small claims process.
Buy cheap, buy twice: the real cost
The old line that we are not rich enough to buy cheap things fits speakers well. The cheap pair costs little, but the labour to fit it costs the same as for a good pair, and if the pair is wrong for the door you pay that labour again.
| Example: front pair | Route A: cheapest | Route B: done once |
|---|---|---|
| Speakers | Online pair, €14 to €20.92 plus import charges | Chosen for the door and supplied |
| Fitting | Labour only, €80 per door published, so €160 | Included |
| What goes wrong | Too deep for the glass, no adapter ring, rattles | Covered by warranty |
| Second job | Proper speakers on adapters, from €200 | Not needed |
| Total | about €374 to €381 plus import charges | from €200 |
This is an example, not a promise. Plenty of cheap pairs work for years, and our from-price depends on the car. The point is that when the cheap pair is wrong, the money spent on fitting it is gone, and you end up paying a specialist anyway.
When the cheap option is perfectly fine
- An older car where a factory speaker has blown and you want a like-for-like replacement.
- A van or a work car where you just want to hear the radio over the engine.
- The car takes a standard size with a plug-in lead available, and you are handy with trim tools.
- You already own a good pair and only need them fitted.
Before you book anyone, ask one question: will the speaker go in on an adapter ring and an adapter lead? The answer tells you what you are paying for.
