Quadlock, CAN gateway, fascia: why a VW unit is a VW unit
Every Volkswagen radio since the mid-2000s sits on a quadlock connector that carries power, speakers, antenna and the CAN lines in one plug. The car expects the radio to talk to it — for the parking display, the steering buttons, the ignition-off timer and the illumination — so a universal unit on a generic harness leaves half of that dead. The VW units we fit come with a CAN gateway that answers the car properly, a fascia moulded for each dash and, on Dynaudio and Fender cars, the harness that keeps the factory amplifier. That is the difference between a screen that looks fitted and one that looks bought online.

What you get in the Volkswagen
A 9 or 10-inch Android screen behind a VW fascia: wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Maps, Waze, Spotify, YouTube, Bluetooth calls, built-in GPS and a SIM slot. Android 12 on an eight-core processor, 2 GB with an IPS panel or 4 GB with a QLED panel. Reverse camera input, steering buttons and OPS display kept, climate panel untouched. On the Transporter, Caddy and Crafter the reverse camera on the same screen is the usual add-on, done at the same visit.
