Volkswagen Polo upgrades, generation by generation.

The 6R and 6C from 2009 to 2017, nearly always for our Polo Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, because the RCD radios have no usable screen. AW owners come for App-Connect activation, a wireless adapter, a reversing camera or front sensors. 9N cars still come in for a screen and speakers.

No. The Polo units connect through a CAN adapter, so volume, track and phone buttons keep working, and on the AW the climate information still shows. The 6R and 9N3 fascia is matched to the trim, so the screen looks like it belongs in the dash rather than an add-on.

App-Connect coding is about an hour. An Android screen or a reversing camera is two to three hours, front sensors half a day because the bumper comes off. You can wait at our Dublin 11 workshop for the shorter jobs or leave the car with us for the morning.

CarPlay: Android screen on the 9N and 6R, App-Connect coding on late 6C and AW cars, wireless adapters and imports. Reversing camera: Camera in the boot handle: coded into the MIB screen on 6C and AW cars, on the Android screen on older Polos. Car radio: Polo-specific Android screen in the 6R and 9N fascia with DAB and steering-wheel control kept. Parking sensors: Park Pilot coded in on 6C and AW cars, colour-matched aftermarket sensors on older Polos. Ambient lighting: Footwell and door LED kits on the 9N and 6R, the factory ambient strip extended on the AW. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters on every Polo; Beats Audio cars keep their amplifier. Subwoofer: Under-seat or spare-wheel-well subwoofer with a compact DSP amplifier, boot floor kept flat. Dash cam: Hardwired from the driver's-side dash fuse panel with a low-voltage cut-off, cameras hidden. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Parking sensors: two to three hours for one end, about half a day for front and rear. Most Polo owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
