Volkswagen Caddy upgrades, generation by generation.

Mk3 and Mk4 vans from 2010 to 2020, nearly always for the Caddy Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, because the RCD radios and Composition Colour have no usable display. Caddy 5 owners come for a reversing camera, a wireless adapter and speakers.

The dashboard and head units are the same, so screens, coding and cameras follow the same routes. The differences are in the back: Life vans already have rear speakers, and the Maxi needs a longer loom for the rear camera. Send the reg and we confirm which head unit the van has.

2K — 2004–2015 (panel van, Maxi and Life): RCD 200, RCD 300 or RCD 500 to 2010; RCD 310, RCD 510 or RNS 315 after the 2010 facelift; no touchscreen on most vans. 2K facelift — 2015–2020 (panel van, Maxi and Life): Composition Colour, Composition Media or Discover Media: MIB1 on early vans, MIB2 with App-Connect on most 2016–2020 vans. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers on every Caddy, rear cabin speakers and sound deadening for panel vans. Reversing camera: Camera above the doors or in the tailgate: MIB screen on the Mk4 and Caddy 5, Android screen on the Mk3. Car radio: Caddy Android screen for the Mk3 and Composition Colour Mk4 vans with DAB and steering-wheel control. CarPlay: Android screen on the Mk3, App-Connect coding on MIB2 Mk4 vans, wireless adapters on the Caddy 5. Ambient lighting: LED kits for the cab and cargo area on the Mk3 and Mk4, extended ambient lighting on the Caddy 5. Parking sensors: Colour-matched sensors with a factory-style tone, shown on the screen where the car supports it. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat subwoofer with its own amplifier, nothing in the load area. Soundproofing: Cab doors, floor and bulkhead treated; load area on request.

Speakers: two to four hours depending on how many speakers are changed. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Most Caddy owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
