AW cars from 2017 with Composition Media or Discover Media have App-Connect in the software on most builds; where it was not ordered we enable it by coding in about an hour. Some 6C facelift cars with a MIB2 unit can be coded the same way. On 6R cars with RCD or RNS radios and on the 9N there is nothing to activate, so the route is our Polo Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.

Yes. MIB2 App-Connect is wired by design, so a wireless adapter plugs into the USB port and the phone connects on its own each time you start the car, on the factory screen with the factory steering-wheel controls. Facelift AW cars from 2021 on MIB3 usually have wireless App-Connect already, so there we only check the settings or sort maps and region on imported cars.

It depends on the generation. 9N / 9N3 (2002–2009): from €650; 6R / 6C (2009–2017): from €150; AW (2017 on): from €150. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

9N / 9N3, built 2002–2009 (Gamma or Beta CD radio on early cars, RCD 300 or RCD 500 on the 9N3 facelift; no screen): Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto in the factory radio opening; the single-DIN cars take a fascia adapter, the 9N3 double-DIN slot takes the screen directly. 6R / 6C, built 2009–2017 (RCD 210, RCD 310 or RCD 510 radio and RNS 310 or RNS 315 navigation to 2014; MIB Composition Media or Discover Media on the 6C facelift, with App-Connect on many 2016–2017 cars): Polo-specific Android screen replacing the RCD or RNS unit on 2009–2014 cars; App-Connect activation by coding on 6C cars with a MIB2 unit, an interface box on the factory screen where the unit is MIB1. AW, built 2017 on (MIB2 Composition Media or Discover Media with App-Connect on 2017–2021 cars; MIB3 from the 2021 facelift, with wireless App-Connect on most cars): App-Connect activation by coding on MIB2 cars that came without it and a wireless adapter for the wired systems; facelift cars usually have wireless CarPlay from the factory, so the work there is region and map changes on imports.

9N / 9N3: two to three hours; 6R / 6C: under an hour; AW: under an hour. You can wait at the workshop or drop the Polo in the morning and collect it the same day.

9N / 9N3: the display is replaced, but the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and the climate controls are kept. 6R / 6C: nothing physical changes — the RCD 210, RCD 310 or RCD 510 radio and RNS 310 or RNS 315 navigation to 2014; MIB Composition Media or Discover Media on the 6C facelift, with App-Connect on many 2016–2017 cars stays and the CarPlay tile simply appears.
