Volkswagen Tiguan · CarPlay

Volkswagen Tiguan CarPlay installation, generation by generation.

Radio King does CarPlay and Android Auto retrofit on every Volkswagen Tiguan generation we see: 5N (2007–2016): Tiguan Android screen replacing the RCD or RNS unit with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto; RNS 510 cars can keep the factory unit and take a CarPlay interface; AD1 (2016–2024): App-Connect activation by coding on MIB2 cars where it was not ordered, a wireless adapter for the wired systems, and map, region and FM band changes on Japanese imports; facelift MIB3 cars usually have wireless CarPlay already; CT1 (2024 on): Factory wireless CarPlay and Android Auto; we handle connection faults, Android Auto settings and map or region changes on imported cars. From €150. Send your reg and we confirm the route and the price the same day.

By generation

CarPlay on each Tiguan: how we do it.

Find your years in the first two columns. The factory system decides the route, and the route decides the price — send the reg if you are not sure which one you have.

FAQ

Volkswagen Tiguan CarPlay: questions people ask.

Answers for Tiguan owners. Something else? Message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply in under 5 minutes.

Ask on WhatsApp
My 2016–2020 Tiguan has no App-Connect. Can it be switched on?

Usually, yes. AD1 cars with Composition Media, Discover Media or Discover Pro run MIB2, and App-Connect is in the software on most of them; we enable it by coding in about an hour, the original unit stays. It is wired by design, so a wireless adapter plugs into the USB port if you want the phone to connect on its own. On imports we also load current maps and recode the FM band.

What about a 2014 Tiguan with the RCD 510?

The 5N radios cannot show a phone screen, so the route is the Tiguan Android screen: it drops into the factory opening with a matching fascia, keeps the steering-wheel buttons and adds wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, DAB and a camera input. 5N cars with the RNS 510 navigation can keep the factory unit and take a CarPlay interface behind it instead.

How much does CarPlay cost on a Volkswagen Tiguan?

It depends on the generation. 5N (2007–2016): from €450; AD1 (2016–2024): from €150; CT1 (2024 on): from €150. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

Which Volkswagen Tiguan years can have CarPlay?

5N, built 2007–2016 (RCD 310 or RCD 510 radio and RNS 315 or RNS 510 navigation; MIB Composition Media on the last cars from 2015): Tiguan Android screen replacing the RCD or RNS unit with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto; RNS 510 cars can keep the factory unit and take a CarPlay interface. AD1, built 2016–2024 (MIB2 Composition Media, Discover Media or Discover Pro with App-Connect to the 2020 facelift; MIB3 with wireless App-Connect on most later cars): App-Connect activation by coding on MIB2 cars where it was not ordered, a wireless adapter for the wired systems, and map, region and FM band changes on Japanese imports; facelift MIB3 cars usually have wireless CarPlay already. CT1, built 2024 on (MIB4 with a 12.9-inch screen (15-inch optional), wireless CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory): Factory wireless CarPlay and Android Auto; we handle connection faults, Android Auto settings and map or region changes on imported cars.

How long does CarPlay take on a Volkswagen Tiguan?

5N: two to four hours; AD1: under an hour; CT1: about an hour. You can wait at the workshop or drop the Tiguan in the morning and collect it the same day.

What stays factory when you fit CarPlay on a Volkswagen Tiguan?

5N: the RCD 310 or RCD 510 radio and RNS 315 or RNS 510 navigation; MIB Composition Media on the last cars from 2015 and its controls stay; the box sits behind the trim and is switched from the factory buttons. AD1: nothing physical changes — the MIB2 Composition Media, Discover Media or Discover Pro with App-Connect to the 2020 facelift; MIB3 with wireless App-Connect on most later cars stays and the CarPlay tile simply appears. CT1: CarPlay is factory-fitted, so we only add to it.

Do I need to book CarPlay for my Volkswagen Tiguan, and is there a warranty?

Yes — send the reg or the year and generation (5N, AD1 and CT1) on WhatsApp or the form below, and we confirm the route, the price and the next free slot. The work carries a one-year warranty, and the workshop is in Rosemount Business Park, Dublin 11, Monday to Saturday.
