The 2009–2015 T270, saloon and Tourer, for the Android screen with DAB and wireless CarPlay because the CD radio or the early Touch unit cannot do either. The T250 comes in for the same screen, and 2015–2018 facelift cars come for a CarPlay box on the Touch 2 screen or the Android screen.

Yes, and most owners add one. The camera sits in the boot-lid handle on the saloon or above the number plate on the Tourer, the cable runs along the tailgate loom, and the picture comes up on the new screen when you select reverse. On a 2015–2018 car with the Touch 2 unit kept, the camera can go through its own camera input instead.

T250 — 2003–2008 (saloon, hatch and Tourer estate): Factory CD radio without a screen; an optional navigation screen on a few cars. Reversing camera: Camera on the factory screen where it supports it, a mirror monitor or Android screen where it does not. CarPlay: Android screen on cars without a usable screen, a CarPlay box or activation on cars with one. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Colour-matched sensors with a factory-style tone, shown on the screen where the car supports it. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Reversing camera: two to three hours. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most Avensis owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
