The W212 and W213, mostly for CarPlay: the wireless box on NTG4 and NTG4.5 cars, activation on 2016 to 2020 NTG5.5 cars, and the 12.3-inch Android screen for owners who want a bigger display, like the 2019 E220d we did. W211 owners come for Android screens; W214 owners for dash cams, cameras and extended ambient lighting.

Yes. The hybrids keep a normal 12 V system for the lights and electronics, and that is the side we tap, with a low-voltage cut-off so the 12 V battery is never run down in parking mode. The high-voltage side is not touched. On the W214 every engine is a mild or plug-in hybrid, and the same rule applies.

Most E-Class jobs take two to four hours: activation is under an hour, a CarPlay box or a dash cam half a morning, an Android screen or a camera with coding half a day. You can wait at the Dublin 11 workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it after lunch.

W211 — 2002–2009 (Saloon and S211 estate): Audio 20 or Audio 50 APS radio, COMAND APS on NTG1; the 2006 facelift brought NTG2.5. W212 — 2009–2016 (Saloon and S212 estate): Audio 20 or COMAND on NTG4 to 2013; the 2013 facelift brought NTG4.5 with Audio 20 CD or COMAND Online and the 5.8 or 7-inch screen. W213 — 2016–2023 (Saloon, S213 estate and All-Terrain): Audio 20 or COMAND Online on NTG5.5 with the 8.4 or 12.3-inch screen and CarPlay as an option; the 2020 facelift brought MBUX (NTG6) with CarPlay on most cars. W214 — 2023 on (Saloon and S214 estate): MBUX (NTG7) with the 14.4-inch touchscreen or the Superscreen; CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory. Not sure? Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits on the W211 and W212, extended 64-colour ambient lighting on the W213 and W214. Car radio: A 12.3-inch Android screen on the W213, a 10.25-inch screen on the W212, a 9-inch screen on the W211. CarPlay: Android screen on the W211, a box on the W212, activation on the W213, factory CarPlay on the W214. Reversing camera: Camera coded into NTG5.5 and MBUX, through an interface on NTG4 and NTG4.5, on the Android screen on the W211. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode; hybrids on the 12 V side only. Speakers: Plug-in door and dash speakers; harman/kardon and Burmester cars keep the factory amplifier. Parking sensors: Colour-matched sensors with a factory-style tone, shown on the screen where the car supports it. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Reversing camera: two to three hours. Most E-Class owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
