The C117 from 2013 to 2019, usually for the wireless CarPlay box on the NTG4.5 screen, a reversing camera and an ambient lighting kit in the same visit. C118 owners mostly want the footwells and door pockets added to the factory ambient system, a coded reversing camera and wireless CarPlay on a car that already has it wired.

Mechanically yes: the C117 shares its platform and head units with the W176 A-Class of the same years, so the CarPlay box, Android screen, camera and lighting routes are the same, and the C118 matches the W177 in the same way. The difference is the boot-lid camera position on the coupé and the Shooting Brake, which we have the right bracket for.

C117 — 2013–2019 (Coupé and X117 Shooting Brake): Audio 20 on NTG4.5 with the 5.8 or 7-inch pod screen; the 2016 facelift brought the 8-inch display, and CarPlay was an option on some cars from 2016. C118 — 2019 on (Coupé and X118 Shooting Brake): MBUX (NTG6) with the 7 or 10.25-inch touchscreen; CarPlay and Android Auto on most cars, as the Smartphone Integration pack on early ones. Not sure? Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kit on the C117, extended 64-colour ambient lighting on the C118. Reversing camera: Camera into the Audio 20 screen on the C117, factory camera coded into MBUX on the C118. CarPlay: A wireless CarPlay box on the C117, wireless CarPlay or a box on the C118 MBUX. Car radio: A 10.25-inch Android screen with the COMAND knob kept on the C117; rarely needed on the C118. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Colour-matched sensors with a factory-style tone, shown on the screen where the car supports it. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Reversing camera: two to three hours. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Most CLA owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
