Yes. On Mk2 cars the screen sits where the 6000CD was and the stalk controls keep working. On the Mk3 the 9-inch unit replaces the radio and its button block, but the climate panel below stays as it is, the steering buttons are wired in, and the USB and aux port carry on. Sony cars keep their factory wiring, so nothing is cut.

The 6000CD and Sony units in the Mk2 ask for a four-digit code after a flat battery. It is printed on the card with the handbook; if that is gone, the serial number on the unit lets it be decoded, and we can usually sort it while the car is in. Mk3 and later SYNC units do not ask for a code. If the radio itself has died, owners often move to an Android screen at that point.

Mk2, built 2004–2011 (6000CD radio, or the Sony six-disc unit on Titanium and Ghia cars; Bluetooth and voice control on later cars, no screen): Android screen in the 6000CD position with the fascia that fills the oval panel; steering-wheel stalk controls kept, DAB and a camera input built in. Mk3, built 2011–2014 (SYNC 1 with a 4.2-inch display on most cars, or the Sony DAB radio with a 5-inch screen; no touchscreen and no CarPlay): 9-inch Android screen replaces the SYNC 1 or Sony radio and its button block with a matching fascia; climate controls, steering buttons and the USB port kept, DAB and a camera input included. Mk3.5, built 2014–2018 (SYNC 2 with an 8-inch touchscreen on 2014–2016 cars, SYNC 3 from late 2016 (CarPlay after a software update); base cars keep a 4.2-inch display radio): Android screen in place of the SYNC 2 unit for a bigger screen and wireless CarPlay; SYNC 3 cars usually keep the factory unit and get CarPlay by update instead. Mk4, built 2018–2025 (SYNC 3 with an 8-inch touchscreen and CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory; SYNC 4 with a 13.2-inch screen from the 2022 facelift): Factory SYNC 3 or SYNC 4 stays on nearly every Mk4 because it already does CarPlay; a larger Android screen goes in only on request, with the climate panel and any B&O amplifier retained.
