A modern touchscreen for this Ford Transit

This Ford Transit arrived at our Dublin workshop with its original radio still in place. We replaced it with a touchscreen head unit that brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into the cab.

The upgrade puts compatible phone apps on the new display, making it easier to use navigation, take calls and choose music during the working day. Our team routed the wiring out of sight, fitted the unit neatly into the dashboard and tested the system before handing the van back.

Can Apple CarPlay be retrofitted to the Ford Transit?

In most cases yes. Either an interface is added behind the factory screen, or the head unit is replaced with one that has CarPlay built in. Which route suits the Ford Transit depends on the year and the screen it was built with — we confirm that before quoting.

Will the steering wheel controls still work?

Yes. The new unit connects through a Ford Transit harness and, where the car needs one, a steering wheel interface, so the volume, track and call buttons keep working. A reversing camera can be connected to the same screen.

Is anything cut during the install?

No. The kit uses a fascia and plug-in harness made for the Ford Transit, so the factory wiring is not cut. Keep the original radio and the car can go back to stock later if you want.

How long does the fitting take?

Most CarPlay retrofits are done in a few hours, so the car is usually back with you the same day. We book a slot at our Dublin 11 workshop and confirm timing once we know the exact year and trim.
