The 8U from 2011 to 2018, mostly for an Android screen or a CarPlay box and a reversing camera, because the factory radio has no CarPlay at all. F3 owners come for dash cams, wireless adapters and the camera coded into the touchscreen. The FJ is new, so the work there is dash cams and ambient lighting.

Yes. The 8U Android screen is fitted with the adapter that keeps the Bose amplifier in play, so every speaker and the subwoofer work as before and the volume is controlled from the new screen and the steering wheel. Nothing is cut, and the Concert radio is stored with the car in case you want it back.

Only for CarPlay. The facelift MMI navigation plus has a different screen and control unit from the early cars, so the CarPlay box is chosen to match that hardware and we confirm it from the reg before booking. Cameras, sensors, dash cams and lighting follow the same routes on every 8U.

Reversing camera: Camera coded into the MMI on the F3, through an interface or on the Android screen on the 8U. CarPlay: Android screen or a box on the 8U, activation or a wireless adapter on the F3, factory on the FJ. Car radio: Android screen in the factory position on the 8U, Bose and steering-wheel buttons kept. Dash cam: Hardwired from the driver's side fuse panel with a low-voltage cut-off on every generation. Parking sensors: Four rear sensors and a beeper that speeds up as you close in; nothing on the screen. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kit on the 8U, extended factory ambient lighting on the F3 and FJ. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Reversing camera: two to three hours. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Dash cam: one to two hours for a front camera, about two with a rear camera. Most Q3 owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
