The 8T from 2010 to 2016, nearly always for the CarPlay box on the MMI 3G screen, often with a reversing camera added through the same box. F5 owners come for activation of the smartphone interface, front parking sensors and dash cams. B10 cars are new, so the work there is dash cams and ambient lighting.

Yes. Whether we fit a CarPlay box, an Android screen, new door speakers or a subwoofer, the Bang & Olufsen amplifier and its speakers stay in place and the DSP or the screen is fitted with the adapter that keeps the factory amplifier in play. The fader, balance and sound settings in the MMI keep working.

A little. The cabriolet has no usable boot floor for an enclosure, so the subwoofer is an under-seat woofer on a compact amplifier. For a dash cam the rear camera has nowhere to go with the roof down, so most cabriolet owners run a front camera only, hardwired from the fuse panel with a cut-off like the coupé.

8T (B8) — 2007–2016 (coupé, Sportback and cabriolet): Concert or Symphony radio, MMI 2G on the first cars, MMI 3G from 2009 and 3G+ from the 2012 facelift; Bang & Olufsen optional. CarPlay: A box on the 8T's MMI screen, activation on the F5, factory wireless CarPlay on the B10. Reversing camera: Camera through the box or a video interface on the 8T, coded into the MMI on the F5. Car radio: Android screen with the MMI knob kept on the 8T and on pre-facelift F5 cars. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kit on the 8T, extended factory ambient lighting on the F5 and B10. Speakers: Plug-in speakers on every generation; Bang & Olufsen amplifiers stay. Subwoofer: Slim boot-floor enclosure on a compact or DSP amplifier, under-seat woofer on the cabriolet. Dash cam: Hardwired from the driver's side fuse panel with a low-voltage cut-off. Parking sensors: Colour-matched sensors on the 8T, front sensors coded into the MMI on the F5. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most A5 owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
