Audi Android Screen & Car Radio Upgrade in Dublin

Radio King replaces the Concert, Chorus and Symphony radios in Audi A1, A3, A4, TT and Q3 with a car-specific Android screen: wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reverse camera input, steering-wheel buttons and parking sensors kept, Bose amplifier retained. Units from €280, fitted in two to three hours in Dublin 11. Audis with MMI keep their screen and get a CarPlay box instead.

Screen or MMI: what your Audi has

Audi split its range for years between a double-DIN radio and the MMI system. If your dash has a radio with buttons either side of a small display — Concert, Chorus, Symphony or the RMC unit in early Q3 — it comes out and a car-specific Android screen goes in. If you have the MMI knob on the console and a screen in the top of the dash, the MMI stays: it is well integrated with the car, and the better upgrade is a CarPlay box behind the factory screen. That route lives on our Audi CarPlay page.

What the Android screen gives you

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Maps, Waze, Spotify and YouTube on a 9 to 10-inch touchscreen.
  • Android 12, eight-core processor, 2 GB with an IPS panel or 4 GB with a QLED panel.
  • Built-in GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a SIM slot for its own data.
  • Reverse camera input, so a camera can go on at the same visit.
  • An Audi-shaped fascia and harness: no gap, no cut trim, steering-wheel buttons and parking display kept.

Fitting an Audi radio properly

Audi radios sit on quadlock connectors with the antenna and CAN lines in one plug, so the right harness does most of the work: ignition, illumination, speed signal and steering buttons come through the CAN adapter without a single spliced wire. Amplified cars — Audi Sound System, Bose — need the amplified-system harness, otherwise the speakers stay silent; we always check this from the reg before the car comes in. The fascia is moulded to the Audi dash, so the screen sits flush with the vents.

Why Radio King

Around 500 head units in stock, a demo stand to try the screen before you buy, and seven years of Audis through the workshop in Rosemount Business Park, Dublin 11. One-year warranty on the unit and the fitting, 4.8 stars on Google.

Audi car radio: questions people ask.

Ask on WhatsApp
Which Audis take a new Android screen, and which keep the MMI?

A1 8X, A3 8P, TT 8J, Q3 8U and the A4 without MMI have a double-DIN radio (Concert, Chorus, Symphony, RMC) that swaps for a car-specific Android screen. Cars with the MMI knob and a screen in the dash top — A4 B8 and B9, A5, A6, Q5, Q7 — keep the MMI, and we add a CarPlay box behind it instead. Send the reg and we tell you which one you have.

Will my Bose or Audi Sound System keep working?

Yes. Amplified Audis get a harness that feeds the factory amplifier, so every speaker and the subwoofer play as before. We test the balance and fade before you leave.

Do the steering-wheel buttons and parking sensors still work?

Yes. A CAN adapter keeps volume, track and phone buttons on the wheel, and the parking tones and display carry over. The climate controls on these Audis are physical and stay where they are.

Does the new unit have DAB radio?

The units we stock do not have a built-in DAB tuner. Every Irish and UK station streams through apps over the unit's own SIM slot or your phone hotspot, which is how most owners listen. If DAB specifically matters to you, tell us before you order and we will advise.

Do I need a radio code?

No. A new Android unit has no security code. If your original Audi radio is showing SAFE after a battery change, that is a separate fix — ask us.

How long does it take and what does it cost?

Two to three hours, usually while you wait or the same day. Units for A3, A4 and TT are €280 to €290 supply-only; fitting is added at checkout. Prices for other models are confirmed once we know the year and the radio fitted.
