FAQ
Toyota Prius reversing camera: questions people ask.
Answers for Prius owners. Something else? Message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply in under 5 minutes.
Ask on WhatsAppCan a reversing camera be added to a Prius without changing the radio?
On the 2009–2015 XW30 with the Toyota Touch unit and on the 2016–2022 XW50 with Touch 2, yes: both usually have a camera input, so the picture comes up on the factory screen in reverse. On an XW30 with the plain CD radio, an XW20 or a Japanese import with a Japanese unit, the camera goes on a mirror monitor or on the Android screen most owners choose at the same time.
How much does reversing camera cost on a Toyota Prius?
It depends on the generation. XW20 (2003–2009): from €100; XW30 (2009–2015): from €100; XW50 (2016–2022): from €100. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.
Which Toyota Prius years can have reversing camera?
XW20, built 2003–2009 (Multi-function display for energy and climate in the dash top, with a separate CD radio below; JBL on some cars): Camera above the number plate shown on the new Android screen or on a mirror monitor; the multi-function display is left alone. XW30, built 2009–2015 (Factory CD radio on most Irish cars, Toyota Touch on some 2012–2015 cars; Japanese-import ZVW30 cars carry a Japanese unit): Camera in the tailgate handle shown on the Android screen or through the Touch unit's camera input; cable along the tailgate loom. XW50, built 2016–2022 (Toyota Touch 2 with Go 7 or 8-inch; no CarPlay on most cars, some late cars have it; many Irish cars are Japanese imports with a Japanese unit): Factory camera on most cars; where it is missing, a tailgate-handle camera into the Touch 2 camera input or onto the Android screen.
How long does reversing camera take on a Toyota Prius?
Two to three hours on the Toyota Prius XW20, XW30 and XW50. You can wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
What stays factory when you fit reversing camera on a Toyota Prius?
On every Prius we work on — XW20, XW30 and XW50 — the parking sensors keep working and the camera comes up automatically in reverse, with guidelines where the screen supports them.
Do I need to book reversing camera for my Toyota Prius, and is there a warranty?
Yes — send the reg or the year and generation (XW20, XW30 and XW50) on WhatsApp or the form below, and we confirm the route, the price and the next free slot. The work carries a one-year warranty, and the workshop is in Rosemount Business Park, Dublin 11, Monday to Saturday.
