The E70 and F15, nearly always for CarPlay: our box on CCC, CIC and NBT cars, and activation on 2017–2018 NBT Evo. E53 owners come for the same box on the 16:9 screen, G05 owners for dash cams, cameras and extended ambient light.

E53 — 2000–2006: Business radio, or the 16:9 navigation screen with the MK4 system. E70 — 2006–2013: Professional navigation with CCC iDrive to 2009, CIC iDrive from 2010. F15 — 2013–2018: 10.25-inch Professional screen with NBT, NBT Evo (ID5/ID6) on 2017–2018 cars. CarPlay: Our CarPlay box on the E53, E70 and F15, coding activation on late F15 cars, factory CarPlay on the G05. Car radio: A 12.3-inch Android screen on the F15, a 10.25-inch screen with iDrive kept on the E70 and E53. Reversing camera: Factory camera coded into iDrive on the F15 and G05, box or screen input on the E53 and E70. Speakers: Plug-in speakers and under-seat woofers; Logic7 and Harman Kardon cars keep their amplifier. Dash cam: Hardwired from the glovebox fuse panel with parking mode and a BMW-safe cut-off. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits on the E70 and F15, extended ambient lighting on the G05. Subwoofer: Under-seat subwoofers on a DSP amplifier, or a boot enclosure behind the third row. Parking sensors: PDC coded into iDrive on the F15, colour-matched sensors on the E70. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Speakers: two to four hours depending on how many speakers are changed. Most X5 owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

E53: the Business radio, or the 16:9 navigation screen with the MK4 system stays and we add to it. Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
