E83 — 2003–2010: Business CD radio, or Professional navigation with CCC iDrive. F25 — 2010–2017: Business 6.5-inch screen or Professional 8.8-inch: CIC iDrive to 2013, NBT from the 2014 facelift. CarPlay: A CarPlay box on the F25, coding activation on the G01 with ID6, an Android screen on the E83. Car radio: A 10.25-inch Android screen with the iDrive knob kept on the F25, a screen in the factory position on the E83. Dash cam: Hardwired from the glovebox fuse panel with parking mode and a BMW-safe cut-off. Reversing camera: Factory camera coded into iDrive on the F25 and G01, a screen or mirror monitor on the E83. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kit on the F25, extended ambient lighting on the G01. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and under-seat woofers for the Stereo and Hi-Fi systems. Parking sensors: Four sensors in the rear bumper with a buzzer that beeps faster; sound only. Subwoofer: Under-seat subwoofers on a DSP amplifier, no boot space lost. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Dash cam: one to two hours for a front camera, about two with a rear camera. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Most X3 owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

E83: the Business CD radio, or Professional navigation with CCC iDrive stays and we add to it. F25: the Business 6.5-inch screen or Professional 8.8-inch: CIC iDrive to 2013, NBT from the 2014 facelift stays and we add to it. Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
