BMW 1 Series CarPlay and Android Auto installation
We upgraded this BMW 1 Series by replacing its factory radio with an Android touchscreen. The new system adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, giving the driver access to compatible navigation, calls, messages and music apps on the dashboard display.
We fitted the unit using a BMW 1 Series-specific fascia and plug-in harness, without cutting the factory wiring. The screen sits in the original dashboard opening, and the steering wheel controls remain available through the appropriate interface. We checked the fit, paired the phone and tested the system in the car before handover.

The head unit also offers Bluetooth and USB connectivity, built-in GPS and an input for a compatible reversing camera. A reversing camera was not part of the installation shown here.
