Volvo V70 upgrades, generation by generation.

Radio King upgrades the Volvo V70 by generation: the 1997–2000 P80 and 2000–2007 P2 get an Android screen with wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and DAB, and the 2007–2016 P3 gets a wireless CarPlay box on its Sensus screen or an Android screen on cars with the small display. Send your reg and we confirm the route.

FAQ

Volvo V70: questions people ask.

Answers for V70 owners. Something else? Message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply in under 5 minutes.

Ask on WhatsApp
Which V70 comes in most?

The 2000–2007 P2 for Android screens, because the HU radio has no display and the 9-inch unit transforms the dash, then the 2007–2016 P3 for CarPlay boxes on the Sensus screen. The 1997–2000 P80 turns up occasionally for a new radio. The XC70 of each generation is the same job.

Will an Android screen work with the pop-up navigation on a P2 V70?

The RTI screen in the dash top is separate from the radio, so it can stay in place or be left retracted; the Android screen brings its own Google Maps and Waze through CarPlay or Android Auto, so most owners stop using it. Nothing needs to be cut either way, and the original radio goes back in if you ever sell the car.

Which Volvo V70 generation do I have?

P80 — 1997–2000 (Estate, based on the 850): Volvo SC-series cassette or CD radio, no screen. P2 — 2000–2007: Volvo HU-series radio with no screen; RTI pop-up navigation on some cars. P3 — 2007–2016: A small display with optional 7-inch navigation on 2008–2011 cars, Sensus from 2011 and Sensus Connect from 2015 on most cars; no CarPlay on any of them. Not sure? Send the reg on WhatsApp and we tell you the generation and the route.

What does Radio King fit on a Volvo V70?

CarPlay: Android screen on the P80 and P2, a wireless CarPlay box on 7-inch Sensus cars of the P3. Car radio: Android screen in the SC, HU or Sensus position on every V70, with DAB and the original amplifier kept. Reversing camera: Camera on the factory screen where it supports it, a mirror monitor or Android screen where it does not. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Colour-matched sensors with a factory-style tone, shown on the screen where the car supports it. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

How long do jobs on a Volvo V70 take?

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most V70 owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Do you keep the factory system on a Volvo V70?

P80: the Volvo SC-series cassette or CD radio, no screen stays and we add to it. P2: the Volvo HU-series radio with no screen; RTI pop-up navigation on some cars stays and we add to it. P3: the A small display with optional 7-inch navigation on 2008–2011 cars, Sensus from 2011 and Sensus Connect from 2015 on most cars; no CarPlay on any of them stays and we add to it. Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
