On most 2016 to 2023 B8 cars, yes: Composition Media, Discover Media and Discover Pro are MIB2 units with App-Connect in the software, so we enable it by coding in about an hour and the original unit stays. Some early 2015 cars need a software update first, and we tell you if yours does. A wireless adapter makes the wired connection automatic.

The RCD 300, 310 and 510 radios cannot show a phone screen, so the route is the Passat Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto in the factory position, steering-wheel buttons kept. Cars with the RNS 510 navigation, which many CCs have, can keep the factory unit and take a CarPlay interface behind it instead.

It depends on the generation. B6 (2005–2010): from €450; B7 (2010–2014): from €450; B8 (2015–2023): from €200; B9 (2024 on): from €250. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

B6, built 2005–2010 (RCD 300 or RCD 500 CD radio; RNS 300 navigation, RNS 510 on late cars and the CC): Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto in place of the RCD radio; RNS 510 cars and the CC can keep the factory unit and take a CarPlay interface. B7, built 2010–2014 (RCD 310 or RCD 510 radio; RNS 315 or RNS 510 navigation): Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto on RCD cars; a CarPlay interface on the factory screen for RNS 315 and RNS 510 cars. B8, built 2015–2023 (MIB2 Composition Media, Discover Media or Discover Pro with App-Connect on most cars from 2016; MIB3 with wireless App-Connect on many cars after the 2019 facelift): App-Connect activation by coding on MIB2 cars where it was not ordered, plus a wireless adapter for the wired systems; facelift MIB3 cars usually have wireless CarPlay already, so the work there is maps and region on imports. B9, built 2024 on (MIB4 with a 12.9-inch screen (15-inch optional), wireless CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory): Factory wireless CarPlay and Android Auto; we handle connection faults, Android Auto settings and map or region changes on imported cars.

B6: two to four hours; B7: two to four hours; B8: under an hour; B9: about an hour. You can wait at the workshop or drop the Passat in the morning and collect it the same day.
