Nissan Navara upgrades, generation by generation.

The D23 NP300 from 2015 to 2021, usually for an Android screen with CarPlay on the 5-inch and NissanConnect 2 trucks, and for reversing cameras that stand up to work. D40 owners come for the same screen and camera; D22 trucks still turn up for a screen with wireless CarPlay, like the one on our Latest Jobs page.

It should, and the wiring is the part we take most care over: the camera loom is clipped along the chassis with a grommet at every panel, the fuse tap sits in the cab fuse box, and nothing is taped under the bed. The screens are the same units we fit in cars, and they cope with the vibration of a pick-up without trouble.

D22 — 1998–2005: Radio-cassette or CD radio in a single-DIN slot with a pocket below on most cabs; no factory screen. D40 — 2005–2015: 6-CD Nissan radio without a screen on most cabs; Connect Premium touchscreen nav with a reversing camera on some 2010-on Tekna trucks. D23 / NP300 — 2015–2021: 5-inch display radio on Visia and Acenta; NissanConnect 2 seven-inch nav with a camera on N-Connecta and Tekna; 8-inch NissanConnect with CarPlay and Android Auto after the 2019 facelift. Car radio: Android screen with a Navara fascia on the D22, D40 and D23; 2019-on trucks keep the 8-inch CarPlay unit. Reversing camera: Tailgate or canopy camera on the Android screen, the NissanConnect input or a mirror monitor. CarPlay: Android screen on cars without a usable screen, a CarPlay box or activation on cars with one. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED strips in the cab doors and dash, colour from your phone. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Four sensors in the rear bumper with a buzzer that beeps faster; sound only. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat subwoofer with its own amplifier, nothing in the load area. Soundproofing: Cab doors, floor and bulkhead treated; load area on request.

Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Reversing camera: two to three hours. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most Navara owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
