Nissan · X-Trail

Nissan X-Trail upgrades, generation by generation.

Radio King upgrades the Nissan X-Trail by generation: the T31 gets an Android screen, the T32 an Android screen or a wireless adapter on late cars with CarPlay, and the T33 has wireless CarPlay from the factory, so the work there is Japanese imports without it. Send your reg and we confirm the route.

FAQ

Nissan X-Trail: questions people ask.

Answers for X-Trail owners. Something else? Message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply in under 5 minutes.

Ask on WhatsApp
Which X-Trail do you see most?

The T32 from 2014 to 2022, for an Android screen on the earlier cars and a wireless CarPlay adapter on the late ones, and a growing number of Japanese-import T32 and T33 cars with a Japanese nav. T31 owners come for an Android screen to replace the 6-CD radio.

Is the X-Trail the same job as the Qashqai?

Largely yes. The T32 shares its head units with the Qashqai J11 of the same years, and the T31 with the Qashqai J10, so screens, adapters and cameras follow the same routes; the T33 and Qashqai J12 share NissanConnect too. The X-Trail differs in the body: a longer camera run, seven seats on many cars and a bigger tailgate.

Which Nissan X-Trail generation do I have?

T31 — 2007–2014: 6-CD Nissan radio without a screen on most cars; Connect Premium touchscreen nav on Tekna, Nissan Connect 5-inch after the 2010 facelift. T32 — 2014–2022: 5-inch display radio on Visia and Acenta; NissanConnect 2 seven-inch nav on N-Connecta and Tekna; NissanConnect with CarPlay and Android Auto from the late-2018 update; Japanese imports carry a Japanese nav. T33 — 2022 on: NissanConnect 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and wired Android Auto; e-Power on most Irish cars; Japanese imports have the Japanese-market unit. Not sure? Send the reg on WhatsApp and we tell you the generation and the route.

What does Radio King fit on a Nissan X-Trail?

CarPlay: Android screen on the T31 and early T32, wireless adapter on late T32 and T33, screens for Japanese imports. Car radio: Android screen with the X-Trail fascia on the T31 and T32; on the T33 only for Japanese imports. Reversing camera: Camera on the factory screen where it supports it, a mirror monitor or Android screen where it does not. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Colour-matched sensors with a factory-style tone, shown on the screen where the car supports it. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

How long do jobs on a Nissan X-Trail take?

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most X-Trail owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Do you keep the factory system on a Nissan X-Trail?

T31: the 6-CD Nissan radio without a screen on most cars; Connect Premium touchscreen nav on Tekna, Nissan Connect 5-inch after the 2010 facelift stays and we add to it. T32: the 5-inch display radio on Visia and Acenta; NissanConnect 2 seven-inch nav on N-Connecta and Tekna; NissanConnect with CarPlay and Android Auto from the late-2018 update; Japanese imports carry a Japanese nav stays and we add to it. T33: the NissanConnect 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and wired Android Auto; e-Power on most Irish cars; Japanese imports have the Japanese-market unit stays and we add to it. Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
