W169, built 2004–2012 (Audio 20 CD radio or Audio 50 APS navigation in the double-DIN slot; COMAND APS on a few cars): 9-inch Android screen with an A-Class fascia in place of the Audio 20 or Audio 50, steering-wheel buttons and DAB included. W176, built 2012–2018 (Audio 20 on NTG4.5 with the 5.8 or 7-inch screen; the 2015 facelift brought the 8-inch display, and CarPlay was an option on some cars from 2016): 10.25-inch Android screen replacing the pod display on the dash, COMAND controller and steering buttons kept, camera input and DAB built in. W177, built 2018 on (MBUX (NTG6) with the 7 or 10.25-inch touchscreen; CarPlay and Android Auto on most cars, as the Smartphone Integration pack on early ones): Rarely needed; on cars with the small 7-inch MBUX screen a 10.25-inch Android screen can replace it, touchpad and steering buttons kept.

Two to three hours, usually the same day on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class W169, W176 and W177. You can wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

On every A-Class we work on — W169, W176 and W177 — the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and speakers, the reverse camera and the climate controls stay; the new unit adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB and a camera input.
