Everything you use. The 9-inch unit sits on a Mondeo fascia in place of the 6000CD or Sony radio and its button block; the climate panel below stays, the steering-wheel buttons are wired in, the aux and USB carry on, and DAB and a reversing camera input come built in. Sony cars keep their factory wiring. It is the same unit for 2007–2014 cars, facelift included.

It depends on the generation. Mk3 (2000–2007): from €290; Mk4 (2007–2014): from €290; Mk5 (2014–2022): from €290. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

Mk3, built 2000–2007 (6000CD radio or the 6006E six-disc unit; a small navigation screen on a few Ghia X cars, no CarPlay): Android screen on a fascia that fills the oval radio panel; steering stalk controls kept, DAB and a camera input built in. Mk4, built 2007–2014 (6000CD radio or the Sony CD unit, Bluetooth voice control on most; a small navigation screen on Titanium X cars, no CarPlay): 9-inch Android screen replaces the 6000CD or Sony unit and its button block on a Mondeo fascia; climate panel, steering buttons and the aux port kept, DAB and a camera input built in. Mk5, built 2014–2022 (SYNC 2 with an 8-inch touchscreen on 2014–2016 cars, SYNC 3 from the 2017 model year, CarPlay after a software update and from the factory on 2019-on cars): Android screen in place of SYNC 2 for owners who want a bigger screen and wireless CarPlay; SYNC 3 cars usually keep the factory unit and take the update instead.

Two to three hours, usually the same day on the Ford Mondeo Mk3, Mk4 and Mk5. You can wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

On every Mondeo we work on — Mk3, Mk4 and Mk5 — the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and speakers, the reverse camera and the climate controls stay; the new unit adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB and a camera input.
