On the Mk4 the camera sits in the boot-lid handle on the hatch and saloon, or above the number plate on the estate, and shows on the Android screen we fit or on a mirror monitor if the 6000CD stays. On the Mk5 it feeds the factory 8-inch screen: through a camera interface on SYNC 2, or coded in as a factory-style retrofit on SYNC 3, guidelines included. Either way it comes up automatically in reverse.

It depends on the generation. Mk3 (2000–2007): from €150; Mk4 (2007–2014): from €150; Mk5 (2014–2022): from €150. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

Mk3, built 2000–2007 (6000CD radio or the 6006E six-disc unit; a small navigation screen on a few Ghia X cars, no CarPlay): Number-plate light camera on a mirror monitor, or on the Android screen if we fit one. Mk4, built 2007–2014 (6000CD radio or the Sony CD unit, Bluetooth voice control on most; a small navigation screen on Titanium X cars, no CarPlay): Camera in the boot-lid or tailgate handle shown on the Android screen or a mirror monitor; on nav cars, a video interface into the factory screen. Mk5, built 2014–2022 (SYNC 2 with an 8-inch touchscreen on 2014–2016 cars, SYNC 3 from the 2017 model year, CarPlay after a software update and from the factory on 2019-on cars): Factory-look camera in the boot-lid or tailgate handle fed to the SYNC 2 or SYNC 3 screen through a camera interface, or a factory camera retrofit coded into SYNC 3 with guidelines.
