No. Engine and hybrid versions share the same iDrive and wiring as the rest of the range, so the route depends only on the year and the head unit. The 530e needs a little care with the battery cut-off on a dash cam, which we set for the car.

E60 / E61 — 2003–2010 (E60 saloon, E61 touring): Business CD radio, or Professional navigation with CCC iDrive to 2008 and CIC iDrive on LCI cars from late 2008. F10 / F11 — 2010–2017 (F10 saloon, F11 touring): 10.25-inch Professional screen with CIC iDrive to 2012, NBT from 2013 and NBT Evo on 2017 cars. G30 / G31 — 2017–2023 (G30 saloon, G31 touring): NBT Evo (ID6) with a 10.25-inch touchscreen to 2020, iDrive 7 (ID7) from the 2020 facelift. Not sure? Car radio: A 12.3-inch Android screen on the F10 with iDrive and Harman Kardon kept; a 10.25-inch screen on the E60. CarPlay: A CarPlay box on the E60 and F10, coding activation on the G30 with ID6. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits on the E60 and F10, extended ambient lighting on the G30. Reversing camera: Factory camera coded into iDrive on the F10 and G30, box or screen input on the E60. Dash cam: Hardwired from the glovebox fuse panel with parking mode and a BMW-safe cut-off. Speakers: Plug-in speakers and under-seat woofers; Harman Kardon and Logic7 cars keep their amplifier. Parking sensors: A rear-only kit of four bumper sensors with an audible warning, no screen display. Subwoofer: Under-seat subwoofers on a DSP amplifier, or a boot enclosure in the touring. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Most 5 Series owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
