It plugs into the iDrive controller and the steering-wheel buttons, so the car is driven the same way as before, and it comes with the optical adapter for the Harman Kardon loop, so the factory amplifier and every speaker keep playing. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB and the reverse camera input are built in.

It depends on the generation. E60 / E61 (2003–2010): from €290; F10 / F11 (2010–2017): from €850. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

E60 / E61, built 2003–2010 (Business CD radio, or Professional navigation with CCC iDrive to 2008 and CIC iDrive on LCI cars from late 2008): Android screen in the factory position with the iDrive controller kept; the fibre-optic amplifier stays on Logic7 cars. F10 / F11, built 2010–2017 (10.25-inch Professional screen with CIC iDrive to 2012, NBT from 2013 and NBT Evo on 2017 cars): 12.3-inch Android screen that keeps the iDrive controller and the Harman Kardon amplifier — the unit we fit most on the F10.

Two to three hours, usually the same day on the BMW 5 Series E60 and F10. You can wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

On every 5 Series we work on — E60 and F10 — the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and speakers, the reverse camera and the climate controls stay; the new unit adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB and a camera input.
