The factory radio came out and an Android head unit went in its place, supplied as a kit for the BMW 5 Series - 530e with the model-specific fascia and a plug-in harness, so nothing on the car was cut. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connect the moment you get in, the steering wheel buttons are kept (through a CAN interface where the car needs one), and the unit has a reverse camera input and built-in GPS with offline maps for the roads where coverage disappears.
