Two of them. 8R cars from 2010 to 2017 with MMI 3G or 3G+ take the box we fit most often on Audis: wireless CarPlay and Android Auto on the factory screen, worked from the MMI knob. 2021-on FY facelift cars that came without the smartphone interface take a second version of the box made for the MIB3 touchscreen. Both are plug-in and reversible.

Usually. 2017–2020 FY cars with MIB2 often have the Audi smartphone interface in the hardware and switched off because the option was not ordered, and we enable it by coding with no parts. If the hardware is not there, a CarPlay box behind the factory screen does the same job. Send the reg and we check the build sheet first.

It depends on the generation. 8R (2008–2017): from €500; FY (2017–2025): from €500; GU (2024 on): from €250. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

8R, built 2008–2017 (Concert or Symphony radio with a 6.5-inch screen, MMI 3G navigation optional, 3G+ from the 2012 facelift; Bang & Olufsen optional): Our wireless CarPlay box on the factory MMI 3G and 3G+ screen, worked from the MMI knob, no wires cut and reversible. FY, built 2017–2025 (MMI radio plus with a 7-inch screen or MMI navigation plus on MIB2 with 8.3 inches to 2020; MIB3 with a 10.1-inch touchscreen from the 2021 facelift; Audi smartphone interface optional, standard on most facelift cars): Coding activation of the smartphone interface on 2017–2020 MIB2 cars where the hardware allows; on 2021-on facelift cars our wireless CarPlay box behind the factory screen where the interface was not fitted, or a wireless adapter where it was. GU, built 2024 on (MMI panoramic display with a 14.5-inch touchscreen on Audi's Android-based platform; wireless CarPlay and Android Auto standard): Factory wireless CarPlay and Android Auto; we handle connection problems and settings on imported cars.

8R: two to four hours; FY: under an hour; GU: about an hour. You can wait at the workshop or drop the Q5 in the morning and collect it the same day.

GU: CarPlay is factory-fitted, so we only add to it.
