Renault Kadjar upgrades, generation by generation.

The 2015 to 2018 Phase 1, almost always for the Kadjar Android screen with wireless CarPlay: R-Link 2 of those years has no phone mirroring, and owners want maps and calls on the screen. Facelift cars come for a wireless adapter and a reversing camera. The Kadjar shares its platform with the Nissan Qashqai, but the dash and head units are Renault's own.

The facelift arrived for the 2019 model year, so most cars registered in 2018 are still Phase 1. Phase 2 has a chrome strip across the front bumper, C-shaped LED running lights and a phone menu on R-Link 2. CarPlay: Our Kadjar Android screen on Phase 1 cars, a wireless adapter on Phase 2 cars where R-Link 2 has CarPlay. Car radio: Our 9-inch Kadjar Android screen for 2015–2018 cars, entry-trim cars only on the facelift. Reversing camera: Tailgate camera on the Android screen, or into R-Link 2 on cars with the wiring. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Colour-matched sensors with a factory-style tone, shown on the screen where the car supports it. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most Kadjar owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
