TL cars from 2015 to 2020, usually for the Android screen with a reversing camera and front sensors done together, as on the Tucson in our case study. NX4 owners come for dash cams, front sensors and a wireless CarPlay adapter. The 2010–2015 ix35 is the same platform generation under another name and takes the same kind of Android screen.

Yes. The NX4 hybrid and plug-in have a normal 12 V battery feeding the fuse box under the dash, which is where the dash cam is hardwired, with a low-voltage cut-off set for the smaller battery. Nothing is connected to the high-voltage side. On petrol and diesel cars the same fuse box is used with a standard cut-off.

JM — 2004–2010: CD radio with no screen; Bluetooth on very few cars. TL — 2015–2020: 5-inch display audio without CarPlay on base 2015–2018 cars, 8-inch navigation on higher trims with CarPlay and Android Auto usually from 2017; 7-inch display audio with CarPlay standard after the 2018 facelift. NX4 — 2021 on (petrol, mild hybrid, hybrid and plug-in hybrid): 8-inch display audio with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto on base cars, 10.25-inch navigation with wired CarPlay on most; 12.3-inch ccNC with wireless CarPlay on the 2024 facelift. Reversing camera: Camera in the tailgate handle on the factory screen or the Android screen; factory camera on the NX4. CarPlay: Android screen on JM and base TL cars, a wireless adapter on late TL and NX4 cars. Parking sensors: Front sensors added to TL and NX4 cars with rear only, colour-matched sensors on the JM. Car radio: A Tucson-specific Android screen on the JM and TL; the NX4 keeps the factory screen. Dash cam: Hardwired from the driver's-side fuse box with a cut-off; 12 V side only on hybrid NX4 cars. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Reversing camera: two to three hours. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Parking sensors: two to three hours for one end, about half a day for front and rear. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Most Tucson owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
