Honda Jazz upgrades, generation by generation.

GE cars from 2008 to 2015 for Android screens and reversing cameras, and Japanese-import Fits on the GE and GK bodies for the same. GK owners come for CarPlay on the Display Audio and for sensors, GR hybrid owners for front sensors and a wireless adapter.

The body and dashboard are the same, so the fascia, harness and sensors match the Jazz of the same years. The difference is the Gathers head unit, which has Japanese menus and an FM band that misses Irish stations, so on a Fit the route is always an Android screen. Changing the dashboard language is a separate job we can do at the same visit.

No. The GP1 Hybrid and the GR e:HEV keep a normal 12 V battery for the electronics, so screens, cameras and sensors are wired from the interior fuse box like any other Jazz and the high-voltage system is never touched.

GD — 2002–2008: CD radio built into the dashboard with no screen; Japanese-import Fits carry a Gathers unit. GE — 2008–2015 (Five-door hatch and GP1 Hybrid): CD radio with a small display; factory navigation on some facelift cars; Japanese-import Fits carry a Gathers unit. GK — 2015–2020: Display Audio 7-inch touchscreen with Honda Connect on SE and EX, usually without CarPlay; a basic radio on the entry S; Japanese-import Fits and Fit Hybrids carry a Gathers unit. GR — 2020 on (Five-door hatch and Crosstar, e:HEV hybrid only): Honda Connect 9-inch touchscreen with CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory; Japanese-import Fits carry a Gathers unit without CarPlay. CarPlay: Android screen on GD, GE and entry GK cars, interface on the GK Display Audio, factory CarPlay on the GR. Car radio: Android screen with a matching fascia on GD, GE and GK cars, and on imported Fits of every body. Parking sensors: Colour-matched rear sensors on every generation, front sensors added on the GK and GR. Reversing camera: Camera on the Android screen or a mirror monitor on older cars, fed into the Display Audio on the GK. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Parking sensors: two to three hours for one end, about half a day for front and rear. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Most Jazz owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
