2015 and 2016 F48 cars have NBT, which never had CarPlay in the software, so those get a CarPlay box on the factory screen. From 2017 the F48 has NBT Evo and CarPlay can usually be enabled by coding in under an hour. The reg tells us which one you have — send it and we check for free.

It depends on the generation. E84 (2009–2015): from €350; F48 (2015–2022): from €250; U11 (2022 on): from €500. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

E84, built 2009–2015 (Business radio with a 6.5-inch screen, or Professional navigation with CIC iDrive): CarPlay box on the factory screen for CIC cars; an Android screen with wireless CarPlay on Business radio cars. F48, built 2015–2022 (6.5 or 8.8-inch screen: NBT on 2015–2016 cars, NBT Evo (ID5/ID6) from 2017, iDrive 7 on the 2020 facelift): Coding activation on NBT Evo and ID7 cars; a CarPlay box on the 2015–2016 NBT cars. U11, built 2022 on (iDrive 8 curved display; CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory): Factory CarPlay; wireless setup, Android Auto and region and map changes on imported cars.

E84: two to four hours; F48: under an hour; U11: about an hour. You can wait at the workshop or drop the X1 in the morning and collect it the same day.

E84: the Business radio with a 6.5-inch screen, or Professional navigation with CIC iDrive and its controls stay; the box sits behind the trim and is switched from the factory buttons. F48: nothing physical changes — the 6.5 or 8.8-inch screen: NBT on 2015–2016 cars, NBT Evo (ID5/ID6) from 2017, iDrive 7 on the 2020 facelift stays and the CarPlay tile simply appears. U11: CarPlay is factory-fitted, so we only add to it.
