Yes. On the 8S CarPlay and Android Auto run on the Virtual Cockpit behind the wheel, and on most cars the smartphone interface is in the MMI hardware and only switched off, so we enable it by coding. Early 2014–2016 cars need a cockpit software update first so the icon appears. Cars that already have it get a wireless adapter. Send the reg and we check.

The 8J has a double-DIN slot, so the usual route is a 9-inch Android screen in the factory position with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB, a camera input and the steering-wheel buttons kept; Bose cars are fitted with the adapter that keeps the amplifier. If your car has RNS-E navigation and you want to keep it, a CarPlay interface on the factory screen is the alternative.

It depends on the generation. 8N (1998–2006): from €290; 8J (2006–2014): from €500; 8S (2014–2023): from €250. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

8N, built 1998–2006 (Concert or Chorus cassette or CD radio in a single-DIN slot, no screen; Bose optional): Single-DIN Android unit with a floating display in place of the Concert radio, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, steering-wheel buttons kept. 8J, built 2006–2014 (Concert or Symphony radio in a double-DIN slot, RNS-E navigation optional; Bose optional; no CarPlay from the factory): Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto in the double-DIN slot; a CarPlay interface on RNS-E cars that keep the factory navigation. 8S, built 2014–2023 (Virtual Cockpit only, no centre screen, MMI on MIB2 throughout; Audi smartphone interface optional from around 2016, activation possible on most cars; Bang & Olufsen optional): Coding activation of the Audi smartphone interface on the Virtual Cockpit, with a cockpit software update on early 2014–2016 cars; a wireless adapter on cars that already have it.

8N: two to three hours; 8J: two to four hours; 8S: under an hour. You can wait at the workshop or drop the TT in the morning and collect it the same day.

8N: the display is replaced, but the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and the climate controls are kept. 8J: the Concert or Symphony radio in a double-DIN slot, RNS-E navigation optional; Bose optional; no CarPlay from the factory and its controls stay; the box sits behind the trim and is switched from the factory buttons. 8S: nothing physical changes — the Virtual Cockpit only, no centre screen, MMI on MIB2 throughout; Audi smartphone interface optional from around 2016, activation possible on most cars; Bang & Olufsen optional stays and the CarPlay tile simply appears.
