Peugeot 208 upgrades, generation by generation.

The A9 from 2012 to 2019, nearly always for CarPlay: a box on the SMEG touchscreen or our Android screen on RD45 cars. P21 owners come for wireless adapters, reversing cameras and front sensors. The 2017 208 we did recently was a late A9 still on SMEG+, which is common in the last two years of the run.

Usually yes. From around 2017 the A9 got the NAC or RCC unit with Mirror Screen, and CarPlay and Android Auto work over the USB port once the phone is plugged in. If your car shows the Mirror Screen icon but no CarPlay, it is an earlier SMEG+ unit registered late, and that takes the CarPlay box. Send the reg and we tell you which one you have.

CarPlay: CarPlay box on SMEG cars, an Android screen on RD45 cars, a wireless adapter on the P21. Reversing camera: Camera on the SMEG screen through an interface, on the Android screen, or on the factory P21 screen. Car radio: A 208-specific Android screen in the factory position on the A9; the P21 keeps its factory screen. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kit in the doors and dash on the A9, extended ambient lighting on the P21. Parking sensors: Colour-matched rear or front sensors with a factory-style tone on both generations. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, rear speakers added, a DSP amplifier on the P21. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most 208 owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
