The Mk1 from 2019 to 2025, nearly always for a wireless adapter because its CarPlay is wired, and a few imported cars for region and map changes. The Plug-in Hybrid is the same job. The Mk2 has everything built in, so those owners only come for dash cams and cameras, which we wire to the 12 V side at our Dublin 11 workshop.

Not for CarPlay: the Hybrid has the same touchscreen and NAC unit as the petrol and diesel Mk1, so a wireless adapter or a region change is identical. The difference is only for anything hardwired, such as a dash cam, where we use the 12 V battery with a cut-off set for it and never touch the high-voltage side of the car.

Mk1 — 2019–2025 (SUV and Plug-in Hybrid): 8-inch touchscreen (NAC or RCC) with Mirror Screen, CarPlay and Android Auto on every trim; 10-inch screen from the 2022 facelift, still wired on most. Mk2 — 2025 on (SUV, Hybrid and ë-C5 Aircross): 13-inch Waterfall touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory. Not sure? CarPlay: Wired CarPlay on the Mk1, so a wireless adapter or region change; built-in wireless CarPlay on the Mk2. Reversing camera: Factory-look camera on the factory screen with guidelines, coded in where the car supports it. Car radio: Larger Android screen with the factory buttons and amplifier kept, where the original display is too small. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Four rear sensors and a beeper that speeds up as you close in; nothing on the screen. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most C5 Aircross owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Mk1: the 8-inch touchscreen (NAC or RCC) with Mirror Screen, CarPlay and Android Auto on every trim; 10-inch screen from the 2022 facelift, still wired on most stays and we add to it. Mk2: the 13-inch Waterfall touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory stays and we add to it. Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
