The BS from 2015 to 2020, for CarPlay on the 7-inch cars and wireless adapters on the 8-inch cars, then BR cars for an Android screen. BP owners, often with a Japanese-import 3.0R, come for the same screen with the McIntosh amplifier kept.

Yes for the BP and BR: the Outback is the Legacy estate with a lift, and the dashboard, radio opening and harness are shared, so the routes on the Legacy page apply. From the BS on there was no Legacy sold here, so the Outback stands on its own with Starlink.

BP — 2003–2009: 6-CD Subaru radio in a double-DIN opening; a Kenwood-built nav on some 3.0R cars; McIntosh audio on some Japanese imports. BR — 2009–2014: CD radio with a small display; Kenwood-built touchscreen nav on SE NavPlus cars; a factory amplifier on some. BS — 2015–2020: 7-inch Starlink touchscreen on 2015–2017 cars; 8-inch Starlink with CarPlay and Android Auto from the 2018 update; Harman Kardon on Premium trims. Reversing camera: Camera on the Android screen or Kenwood nav on the BP and BR; factory camera on every BS and BT. CarPlay: Android screen on the BP and BR, interface or wireless adapter on the BS, adapter on the BT. Car radio: Car-specific Android screen with wireless CarPlay, DAB and camera input, factory controls kept. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Four sensors in the rear bumper with a buzzer that beeps faster; sound only. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Reversing camera: two to three hours. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most Outback owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
