Japanese-import BL and BP cars, B4 saloons and Touring Wagons, nearly always for a screen that gives them Irish radio and CarPlay with the McIntosh amplifier kept. Irish BM and BR cars come for an Android screen in place of the CD radio or the Kenwood nav.

For the BP and BR, yes: the Outback is the raised Legacy estate with the same dashboard, opening and harness, so the routes are identical and the Outback page covers cameras and CarPlay for those years. The Legacy stopped being sold here after the BM and BR, so this page ends there.

BE / BH — 1998–2003: Subaru radio-cassette or CD radio in a double-DIN opening on most cars; McIntosh audio on some Japanese B4 and GT-B imports. BL / BP — 2003–2009: 6-CD Subaru radio in the double-DIN opening; Kenwood-built nav on some 3.0R spec.B cars; McIntosh amplifier and speakers on many Japanese imports. Car radio: Android screen in the double-DIN opening on the BE, BL and BM; McIntosh imports keep the amplifier. Reversing camera: Camera on the factory screen where it supports it, a mirror monitor or Android screen where it does not. CarPlay: Android screen on cars without a usable screen, a CarPlay box or activation on cars with one. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: A rear-only kit of four bumper sensors with an audible warning, no screen display. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Reversing camera: two to three hours. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most Legacy owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
