Yes. We do not replace the SK's Starlink unit as a rule, so the Harman Kardon amplifier and speakers are untouched; a wireless CarPlay adapter plugs into the USB port and changes nothing in the audio path. If an owner does want an Android screen in an SK with Harman Kardon, it needs the amplifier adapter, and we say so before booking.

For the screen, yes: SH and SJ imports take the same Android screen as Irish cars, with a fascia for the Japanese opening where it differs, and that also gives you the Irish FM band, DAB and English menus. The Japanese menus elsewhere in the car are a separate conversion, quoted alongside if you want it.

SG — 2002–2008: Subaru CD radio, sometimes with a cassette, in a double-DIN opening; no factory screen. SH — 2008–2013: CD radio with a small display on most cars; a Kenwood-built touchscreen nav badged Subaru on the NavPlus trims. SJ — 2013–2018: CD radio with a small display on early cars; 7-inch Starlink touchscreen from around 2016, without CarPlay on most cars; Japanese imports carry a Japanese unit. Reversing camera: Camera on the Starlink input on the SJ and SK, on the Android screen or a mirror monitor on the SG and SH. Car radio: Android screen with a Forester fascia on the SG, SH and SJ; the SK keeps its 8-inch Starlink. CarPlay: Android screen on the SG, SH and SJ, factory CarPlay with a wireless adapter on the SK. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Four sensors in the rear bumper with a buzzer that beeps faster; sound only. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Reversing camera: two to three hours. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most Forester owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
