Radio King upgrades the Škoda Karoq: pre-facelift cars from 2017 to 2021 have MIB2, so SmartLink is switched on by coding where it was never ordered, or a wireless adapter added; facelift cars from 2022 have wireless CarPlay from the factory. Dash cams are hardwired on both with a battery-safe cut-off. Send your reg and we confirm the route.
The head unit decides the route, and it changed with every generation. Find your years, then pick the service above for what we fit and from what price.
| Generation | Years | Body | Factory system |
|---|---|---|---|
| NU Pre-facelift | 2017–2021 | — | MIB2 Swing 6.5-inch, Bolero or Amundsen 8-inch, Columbus 9.2-inch; SmartLink optional, wired only |
| Facelift Facelift | 2022 on | — | MIB3 Swing 8.25-inch, Bolero 8-inch or Columbus 9.2-inch; wireless CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory on Bolero and Columbus |
Generation-by-generation guides first — the Karoq jobs we see most. The rest of the workshop's services are done on every Škoda too.
Book the install, let us photograph the finished car for a case study, and you get a discount on the fitting. Every Karoq owner after you gets a real example to look at.
Real Škoda cars from the Dublin 11 workshop — Karoq first, then the rest of the range: what was fitted and what changed on the dash.
Car-specific screens, CarPlay boxes and activations for Škoda: supply-only with delivery across Ireland, or fitted at our Dublin 11 workshop.
Answers for Karoq owners. Something else? Message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply in under 5 minutes.
Ask on WhatsAppPre-facelift cars from 2017 to 2021, mostly for SmartLink activation with a wireless adapter added at the same time, and dash cams across both. Facelift cars from 2022 already have wireless CarPlay on Bolero and Columbus, so they come in for dash cams and, on Swing cars, a wireless adapter.
Very close. Both use the same MIB2 units before the facelift and MIB3 after, so activation, adapters and dash cam routes are the same, and the Karoq's shorter tailgate loom makes a rear camera slightly quicker. Trim clips and fuse positions differ a little, which is why we ask for the reg.
NU — 2017–2021: MIB2 Swing 6.5-inch, Bolero or Amundsen 8-inch, Columbus 9.2-inch; SmartLink optional, wired only. Facelift — 2022 on: MIB3 Swing 8.25-inch, Bolero 8-inch or Columbus 9.2-inch; wireless CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory on Bolero and Columbus. Not sure? Send the reg on WhatsApp and we tell you the generation and the route.
CarPlay: SmartLink activation or a wireless adapter on 2017–2021 MIB2 cars, factory wireless CarPlay on the facelift. Dash cam: Hardwired from the footwell fuse box with parking mode on both, rear camera down the tailgate. Reversing camera: Factory-look camera on the factory screen with guidelines, coded in where the car supports it. Car radio: Larger Android screen with the factory buttons and amplifier kept, where the original display is too small. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Colour-matched sensors with a factory-style tone, shown on the screen where the car supports it. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.
CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Dash cam: one to two hours for a front camera, about two with a rear camera. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Most Karoq owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
NU: the MIB2 Swing 6.5-inch, Bolero or Amundsen 8-inch, Columbus 9.2-inch; SmartLink optional, wired only stays and we add to it. Facelift: the MIB3 Swing 8.25-inch, Bolero 8-inch or Columbus 9.2-inch; wireless CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory on Bolero and Columbus stays and we add to it. Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
Send the reg or the year on WhatsApp or the form below and we confirm the generation, the route, the price and the next free slot. Every job carries a one-year warranty on the work, done at our workshop in Rosemount Business Park, Dublin 11, Monday to Saturday.

Excellent service from Radio King. They supplied and professionally installed a 70mai T800 three-channel camera system in my taxi, covering the front, rear and passenger cabin. The wiring was fitted neatly and everything was fully…
