Opel · Insignia

Opel Insignia upgrades, generation by generation.

Radio King upgrades the Opel and Vauxhall Insignia: early Insignia A cars with CD or Navi 600 units take our Insignia Android screen, facelift cars with Navi 900 IntelliLink get an interface or a wireless adapter, and the Insignia B has factory CarPlay, so we add an adapter, cameras and sensors. Send your reg and we confirm the route.

FAQ

Opel Insignia: questions people ask.

Answers for Insignia owners. Something else? Message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply in under 5 minutes.

Ask on WhatsApp
Which Opel Insignia do you see most in the workshop?

The 2008 to 2013 Insignia A, nearly always for the Android screen with wireless CarPlay, because the CD and Navi 600 units cannot mirror a phone. Facelift cars with Navi 900 come for the interface box, and Insignia B owners for a wireless CarPlay adapter, front sensors and a reversing camera on cars that came without one.

Is a Vauxhall Insignia the same car as the Opel Insignia?

Yes. Vauxhall is the British badge on the same car, so a UK-import Insignia takes the same screens, interfaces and sensors as an Irish Opel. Facelift cars from the UK sometimes arrive with the IntelliLink set to miles and English already, and any settings that need switching are done in the Dublin 11 workshop in the same visit.

Which Opel Insignia generation do I have?

Insignia A — 2008–2013 (hatch, saloon and Sports Tourer estate): CD300 or CD400 radio without a screen on most cars; CD500 Navi, Navi 600 or DVD800 with a 7-inch screen and the centre-console controller on higher trims. Insignia A facelift — 2013–2017 (hatch, saloon, Sports Tourer and Country Tourer): Navi 900 IntelliLink 8-inch touchscreen on most cars, R4.0 IntelliLink with CarPlay and Android Auto on many 2016–2017 cars; CD radio with a small screen on entry trims. Insignia B — 2017–2022 (Grand Sport hatch, Sports Tourer and Country Tourer): Multimedia Radio 7-inch, Multimedia Navi or Multimedia Navi Pro 8-inch with CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory. Not sure? Send the reg on WhatsApp and we tell you the generation and the route.

What does Radio King fit on a Opel Insignia?

CarPlay: Our Android screen on early Insignia A, an interface on Navi 900, a wireless adapter on R4.0 and Insignia B. Car radio: Our 9-inch Insignia Android screen for 2008–2013 cars, an IntelliLink-position screen on the facelift. Parking sensors: Colour-matched rear or front sensors on the Insignia A, front sensors added to Insignia B cars with rear only. Reversing camera: Camera on the Android screen or into IntelliLink on the Insignia A, into Multimedia Navi on the Insignia B. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

How long do jobs on a Opel Insignia take?

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Parking sensors: two to three hours for one end, about half a day for front and rear. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Most Insignia owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Do you keep the factory system on a Opel Insignia?

Insignia A: the CD300 or CD400 radio without a screen on most cars; CD500 Navi, Navi 600 or DVD800 with a 7-inch screen and the centre-console controller on higher trims stays and we add to it. Insignia A facelift: the Navi 900 IntelliLink 8-inch touchscreen on most cars, R4.0 IntelliLink with CarPlay and Android Auto on many 2016–2017 cars; CD radio with a small screen on entry trims stays and we add to it. Insignia B: the Multimedia Radio 7-inch, Multimedia Navi or Multimedia Navi Pro 8-inch with CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory stays and we add to it. Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
