Radio King does CarPlay and Android Auto retrofit on every Mazda 3 generation we see: BK (2003–2009): Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto in the radio position with a model-specific fascia; the factory radio has no screen to work with; BL (2009–2013): Android screen replacing the factory radio, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, the display strip above the vents stays for the clock and climate; BM / BN (2013–2019): Mazda CarPlay and Android Auto retrofit kit fitted behind the MZD Connect screen and enabled by software, controlled from the Commander knob; on a Japanese-import Axela the factory unit is replaced by an Android screen; BP (2019 on): Factory CarPlay is already there; we add a wireless adapter on wired cars and sort Android Auto and map region on imported cars. From €250. Send your reg and we confirm the route and the price the same day.
Find your years in the first two columns. The factory system decides the route, and the route decides the price — send the reg if you are not sure which one you have.
| Generation | Years | Factory system | How we do it | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BK | 2003–2009 | CD radio built into the dashboard, Bose on the Sport trim; no screen | Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto in the radio position with a model-specific fascia; the factory radio has no screen to work with | from €290 |
| BL | 2009–2013 | CD radio with a small display strip above the vents; TomTom navigation on some facelift cars; Bose on higher trims | Android screen replacing the factory radio, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, the display strip above the vents stays for the clock and climate | from €290 |
| BM / BN | 2013–2019 | MZD Connect with a 7-inch screen and the Commander knob; CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory on late 2018 and 2019 cars only | Mazda CarPlay and Android Auto retrofit kit fitted behind the MZD Connect screen and enabled by software, controlled from the Commander knob; on a Japanese-import Axela the factory unit is replaced by an Android screen | N/A — not applicable |
| BP | 2019 on | Mazda Connect with an 8.8-inch screen and the Commander knob; CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory, wireless CarPlay on later cars | Factory CarPlay is already there; we add a wireless adapter on wired cars and sort Android Auto and map region on imported cars | from €250 |
3 CarPlay first, then other Mazda work from the Dublin 11 workshop: what was fitted and what changed on the dash.
Supply-only with delivery across Ireland, or fitted at our Dublin 11 workshop with the fitting booked at checkout.
Generation-by-generation guides first, then everything else the workshop does on a Mazda.
Answers for 3 owners. Something else? Message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply in under 5 minutes.
Ask on WhatsAppYes. BM and BN cars with MZD Connect take the Mazda retrofit kit: a small module fitted behind the screen, a new USB hub in the armrest and a software update. CarPlay and Android Auto then run on the factory 7-inch screen and you use the Commander knob as before. Late 2018 and 2019 cars usually had it from the factory, so send the reg and we check first.
The BL and the earlier BK have no screen to feed, so the route is an Android screen in the radio position with a fascia made for the car. You get wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB, a camera input and the steering-wheel buttons kept. On the BL the display strip above the vents keeps showing the clock and climate.
It depends on the generation. BK (2003–2009): from €290; BL (2009–2013): from €290; BM / BN (2013–2019): not available; BP (2019 on): from €250. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.
BK, built 2003–2009 (CD radio built into the dashboard, Bose on the Sport trim; no screen): Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto in the radio position with a model-specific fascia; the factory radio has no screen to work with. BL, built 2009–2013 (CD radio with a small display strip above the vents; TomTom navigation on some facelift cars; Bose on higher trims): Android screen replacing the factory radio, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, the display strip above the vents stays for the clock and climate. BM / BN, built 2013–2019 (MZD Connect with a 7-inch screen and the Commander knob; CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory on late 2018 and 2019 cars only): Mazda CarPlay and Android Auto retrofit kit fitted behind the MZD Connect screen and enabled by software, controlled from the Commander knob; on a Japanese-import Axela the factory unit is replaced by an Android screen. BP, built 2019 on (Mazda Connect with an 8.8-inch screen and the Commander knob; CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory, wireless CarPlay on later cars): Factory CarPlay is already there; we add a wireless adapter on wired cars and sort Android Auto and map region on imported cars.
BK: two to three hours; BL: two to three hours; BM / BN: under an hour; BP: about an hour. You can wait at the workshop or drop the 3 in the morning and collect it the same day.
BK: the display is replaced, but the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and the climate controls are kept. BL: the display is replaced, but the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and the climate controls are kept. BM / BN: nothing physical changes — the MZD Connect with a 7-inch screen and the Commander knob; CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory on late 2018 and 2019 cars only stays and the CarPlay tile simply appears. BP: CarPlay is factory-fitted, so we only add to it.
Yes — send the reg or the year and generation (BK, BL, BM and BP) on WhatsApp or the form below, and we confirm the route, the price and the next free slot. The work carries a one-year warranty, and the workshop is in Rosemount Business Park, Dublin 11, Monday to Saturday.
The same job on other Mazda series, the make hub and the guides that go with this page.
Tell us the year — we'll confirm the generation, the route, the price and the next free slot.
